This was a really fun one. Went in August and had a blast. It starts out with natural stairs, which are kinda annoying, but you get great views of Fruita. After that, you get into the canyon, and the views are amazing. There are some little slot canyons called "wives." Most would probably need technical gear, but we did Wife 4 without much of a problem, and we went into Wife 5 a little before running into an inactive waterfall, which would probably be cool to see when it's running. After you go into the canyon a little, you run into a split. You can see the overlooks or continue to highway 24. We saw the overlooks, and they were awesome. I didn't get pictures, but my friend did. The pictures I did get, and have posted, are of my friend in Wife 4. After the 2 overlooks, we went back down the path we took because we only had one car.

This was the only hike we had time to do and it was gorgeous. It is not a super long hike but we were able to stretch it to three hours with a couple short stops(15-20mins) to sit and take in the epic views. Highly recommend doing the overlooks and exploring up there. Keep alltrails handy as we had to do some figuring out to get back as we went a bit off trail. As you get farther down the main trail, you can hear the water and cars on highway 24. We went about .4 miles past the fork that turns right for frying pan canyon and left for the Cohab trail as it mostly took you to the road. Wish we had more time to scramble around the overlooks. In all we did 5.2mi in 3hrs 15. Highly recommended this trail if you are short on time. Also, we saw a handful of ppl but mostly felt like we were all alone the whole time.

There are very few hikes at this park that people might find themselves at. This one likely gets missed because of the ascent since it is a bit of a ways straight up at the beginning but it levels out. Once at the top of opens up and is gorgeous. Signage at this park is not great so dont use this to get to the natural bridge unless you want to do an extended hike across this canyon and over the main street to the main parking for that hike. Go to the middle of the canyon and see the overlooks!

Hiking up the Cohab Canyon Trail is a very memorable experience. As the trail switchbacks up the reef you get increasingly better views of the Fruita Historic District and Fruita Campground as well as the Waterpocket Fold across from Highway 24 and even The Castle rock formation that you have marveled at from the Visitor Center. The trail then enters the Waterpocket Fold and you get to enjoy a very nice canyon. Taking the side trail north to both the North Fruita Overlook Viewpoint and the South Fruita Overlook Viewpoint is highly recommended. You will have amazing and far reaching views of Fruita and the...
