The middle age woman with brown hair that drives a white chevy van, works at this place. She is very rude, impatient, inconsiderate. I happened to be there with a tour bus full of 44 people from France. I have never been at this location. I was told by my tour guide, who has been here many times, to stop just in front of the house on the road to disembark the passengers. He has done this many times. Well, this woman comes running out of the house, she had a uniform on, and was yelling at me to MOVE THE BUS NOW!! I attempted to let her know that I didn't know she didn't like this and I just had about 7 more people coming off. She yelled again and said she was going to call the rangers and have them give me a ticket. I parked the bus and there was no traffic behind me waiting, and a ranger showed up. He proceeded to ask for my license and told me he was investigating the violation. He did not investigate but proceeded to write me a ticket just because of this lady that was yelling at me. My tour guide attempted to talk with her and she started to yell at him and told him to leave the property along with these tourists, and said she didn't like tourists. I also heard done people nearby state that she was very rude and that the pies were not that good either. She needs to be fired. This is not a job for her. By hhe way, there are no signs advising no loading or unloading of passengers and no, no...
Read moreThis place was one of the highlights of our visit to the Capitol Reef National Park and of our entire trip. Located in the rustic and historic house walking distance from the Fruita Campground, they sell everything from honey, jams, tea, coffee, pastries, bread, salsa, hats, cooking utensils, souvenirs and much more… but lets not beat-around-the-bush… we are here for the unbelievably delicious freshly baked mini-pies. I tried the strawberry-rhubarb and cherry on separate day, while both were amazing, cherry was the hands-down winner. Get there early because there will be a line and they will sell out before the day is out. Who says you cannot have pie for breakfast? Don’t forget to grab a mini vanilla ice cream because, well its pie and pie and ice cream go together like peanut butter and jelly. Had it not been for the fact that I was flying home without checking a bag, I would have grabbed some canned goods (damn TSA). The staff here is very friendly and the prices fair. I cannot recommend this place more, especially for those camping in...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to try their pies because they were featured on the 'Pie-A-La-road' Utah article. Of the pies we were able to try, they were the clear winner. Each pie is more like a mini personal pie, so you get the full experience. We went as soon as they opened and the pies were still slightly warm.
We had them for breakfast during both days of our trip, and they were wonderful. Our favorites were Strawberry Rhubarb and Mixed Berry, but Peach and Cherry were both good as well. (We did not get a chance to try the apple.)
They open at 9am (online times posted may no longer be accurate) and a line begins forming a few minutes prior to 9am for pies and also Cinnamon Rolls. We tried a cinnamon roll and it was okay to us, but the pies stole the show. They tend to run out of baked goods throughout the day, so if you go after the first hour of opening your options may be more limited. They are in a cute historic building that you are able to walk around and buy...
