Fruita Valley is one of the interesting places to visit at Capital Reef National Park. This is small but fertile area around Fremont River, which is otherwise surrounded by endless miles in all directions of harsh environs. The area was inhabited by native Americans in centuries long past and by early settlers in Utah around the turn of the 20th century.
Today, you can visit Fruita Valley in the area of Rt 24 and the Capital Reef National Park Scenic Road turnoff. You will find orchards with fruit trees (and deer), old barns, horse pasteur, broken down wagons on display as well as a historic Gifford Homestead house which operates as a gift shop and bakery these days.
