My husband had to do some work in Ozona, Texas so I tagged along. I found I had a lot of time on my hands and needed something to do. After a few people recommended the museum, I thought why not.
The Ozona museum sits facing the town square in an old building. The entrance fee was $3.00 and there was no wait.
A quick walk up some stairs and you do a self guided tour. The first room you will find information about Tom Smith who was featured in Ripley's Believe it or not because not only did he open up a Blacksmith's shop but he was also the sheriff serving a long time with no arrests and did not have to use a gun. Most people know how Texans are obessed / fascinated with firearms as well as all the stories of gun-fighting cowboys and Indians. Thus, Tom's story is intriguing.
Through-out the museum, you will find other interesting tidbits about encounters with coyotes or treasure hunters as well as information about the people who have built Ozona from over 100 yrs ago to present. There are also the normal artifacts you find in museums...guns, clothes, furniture.
In the gift shop, they have ALOT of super interesting books related to the area
If you find yourself in Ozona and have an extra hour, I recommend visiting...

It’s easy to sit in the bleachers. It’s harder to play the game. Give the museum props for caring enough about the past to try to preserve it. It’s a foundation on which...
