I've tried to give this place a try on several occassions, both purchasing items and selling them. When I've taken items in to sell, there is a condescending way they have of speaking to you. I've taken very nice items in for them to buy and have been told the items or the "style" aren't the brand they carry, however, I'd see similar brands and styles in their store. I was concerned it was because I was a woman of color, hoping that's not the case. My most recent experience solidified it for me...I won't be back. It could be I'm not their client base and if so, that's their choice. I will advise anyone considering selling items to them to think about it carefully, and READ THE CONTRACT! I dropped off several items, shoes, dress and skirts, all practically new and nice end brand names. When they emailed me to come in to "hear their offer" I was in the middle of attending to a severe family emergency. The email came through as a ticket to an event. It didn't have their business name on it or anything. I will admit, I was preoccupied attending to my family. I was finally able to stop in about a month after they contacted me and was told they were offering me $21 in the form of an in-store credit, for the items they purchased and the others were donated, per their policy. They were able to show me the policy in the contract, so I can't fault them. It's just unfortunate, that there isn't any flexibility in the case of unique situations. The lady who helped me was very apathetic, even as I explained the situation. Another lady came to the counter, I'm not sure why and just stood there. Niether of them could tell me what they kept and how they arrived at the $21, which I found bizarre. I would think they have to inventory what they buy and the cost. Their business model 100% favors them. If they can't look at your clothes when you come in, they give you a time and day to return and if you don't come on that day/time, they automatically donate your clothes (I would suspect getting a tax write-off). Anything they "purchase" they "pay" you in the form of an in-store credit, so they make money off the money they "pay" you, and what they offer is extremely low compared to what they charge. I guess this is why they've been able to grow at the rate they have. They're basically getting free inventory and making money off of it. I called and left a message for the owner and was told she would call me back the same day...hopefully,...
Read moreThis breaks my heart to have to share such negative review because for many years I’ve shopped in this store. My close family & friends also. I am a Louis Vuittion guru.
I’m part of the Louis Vuittion family. Once you spend a certain amount you become exclusive. Well I’ve purchased Louie in this store before and I never questioned their quality. Well unfortunately my last purchase made me question their quality. I wish I could post the pictures.
A day after purchasing my bag it started to peal, now I’m like okay something isn’t right. I called the store and was told to take pictures of the bag and email them. I did and had to call the store 3 days later for a follow up.
Now I’d like to think I’m a frequent shopper because Fifth Main really is one of my favorite places to shop despite the owners nasty attitude towards women of color, however Sarah makes the place a pleasant place to shop.
My purchase was very costly and I’m not complaining about that because I only carry Louie bags. My complaint is how can one put paint over a very expensive item and put a price tag on it as if it was close to brand new (fraud).
I was told when some of the bags come in they’re restructured in the store. Okay that’s fine however I think it’s pretty tacky and tasteless to cover up something damaged to add a bigger price to it. Hell I would rather you leave it as is and give me the option to buy it damaged.
Nevertheless I was told to contact Louie for repairs... after they painted the bag. Lol! I immediately contacted my Louie rep in Chicago, I will be taking the bag in they’ll send the bag out to get repaired, I pray this bag is not a faux, either way I’m not letting this one rest easy.
I’m raising hell because it’s the principal for me. I owned an upscale consignment boutique and I would never do such a thing. I’ll keep you all posted with...
Read moreI would like to preface this by saying that very rarely do I leave bad reviews. However, this is one of the worst customer service experiences I have had in a long time. My aim here is to get places like this to change their policies when they are completely idiotic, especially if they want people to trust them and their brand, which I no longer do and will certainly never ever shop there again, and neither should you, until they change how they do business.
Simply put, I purchased a dress at an event (mind you they didn't have adequate space to try things on but I liked it and knew the size was right). I went home to put it on, and the zipper was completely broken. Normally, at most other retail stores even consignment I have ever been to, they would apologize for their issue, and offer to at least exchange the item. A $40 dress is not worth the customer dissatisfaction and bad rep that this would give them. Statistically speaking, 1 bad review can lose you 100s of dollars and customer faith, but I digress. They absolutely refused to take the dress back, citing a policy that when it leaves the store it's my problem. They are basically saying customer is wrong, we know our items are perfect (human error is a thing people), and it's on you. No, I did not break the zipper and the tags are still attached, so they can't even use the excuse that I wore it and broke it or anything like that. Manager was totally aggravating and perhaps needs a lesson in how to put the customer first or just not be in retail. I will not be shopping there and you shouldn't either. Shop on Poshmark or eBay. There are way better prices and even for non-returnable items on those sites, if something is ever broken or has an issue, they immediately return it for you. Don't waste...
