Pennington Creek Park — Attraction in Tishomingo

My 5 year old granddaughter and I had a great time at the museum. We learned about the people and the hardships they have overcome to become the respected, strong Chickasaw they are today.

The museum docents are friendly and knowledgeable. Their interaction with us made the trip much more informative.

This may not be the place for very young children. My granddaughter enjoyed it because she could read and the captions on the exhibits and follow the story line. Please be aware that there are no flashy cartoon characters or video interactive games. This is a museum that gives information important to the development of our country in a beautiful and artistic way. It is a celebration of " Chi' ka' sa".

The Good: This is a fun place to swim and spend time with the kids. The water is shallow enough for all ages to enjoy playing. The Bad: There are no signs leading you to where the creek is. The parking area is destroyed by natural water running through. The stairs leading down to the creek are extremely steep. Be very careful walking down them with your kids. The Ugly: There is trash left all over the creek bed and in the woods, despite having trash can put out by the city. Beautiful small little park on the river that runs thru the town of Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Camp sites available and every site has water, electric, picnic table and outdoor charcoal grill all with their own 150 year old (could be older I dont know) big beautiful shade trees!!!!! Little water park/ baby pool for the youngins'. I have only been there once to take a break at work, droveb in, pulled under one of those shade trees and just relaxed and unwind for a little while!!!!! WOW!!!!!
