I seldom do this, but I just want to put a small note about Barrow's Jewels & Horologists here. I've been going to Barrow's for at least 15 years now. Right from the first time I was treated like a part of their extended family. I may be an old man but there's a few things I learned as a kid from my Mother who worked at the old Federal's Department Store up in Michigan that stuck with me. Just don't just do the job, but add a smile little T.L.C. as well as respect to your customers and they'll keep coming back. As a kid cutting grass and shoveling snow the fact that it wasn't just another lawn I was mowing or another drive way and sidewalk I was clearing it was a that these were REAL PEOPLE and if I wanted to keep regular customers I had to make sure I did a good job. I not only got paid for the job but quite a few times I even got a tip. I always stuck a Christmas card in the doors of my customers. That small gesture made sure I had steady customers and when other kids came around and offered their services they were told that the job was going to be taken care of. Even when my customers went on vacation or were at work I could still do the job and know I was going to get paid for the job later. The fact that my service is what kept my customers was a lesson I carried throughout my life. As an insurance agent I made sure I kept a calendar of the birthdays of my customers families so I could send them birthday cards as well as Christmas and even cards for Thanksgiving. That insured me that as changes in their families happened such as new births I was one of the first people that got called. That small gesture helped my own business to grow. So ladies and gentlemen, when you're looking for something special for your loved ones stop in at Barrow's first. You may not even know what you're looking for in the beginning but you'll get plenty of friendly help and great service. And if you need some jewelry or watch or some other family heirloom repaired take it to Barrow's. I took an antique watch there that my wife had received to be cleaned and repaired for her birthday. I took it in knowing I was giving them plenty of time to do the job. I gave them my cell number and explained it was a surprise for my wife and when I'd need it done. They not only did they do the job RIGHT with plenty of time to spare they let my know how valuable it actually was. Take it there a little early and be patient and give them the time it takes to do the job right. Trust me you won't regret it, plus you'll have plenty of time to have it wrapped to give it to the one you love. Thank you Barrow's for everything you've done for me throughout the years. And thanks to the rest of you for taking the time to read this. Russ...
Read moreOn my way to work I noticed a stone was missing from the end of my wedding band and instantly panicked. I started searching for local jewelers as the chain store I purchased this set from wanted to send it out for repair, I found this amazing family owned jeweler and read through the multiple amazing reviews. Before walking into the shop I already felt like I was making the right choice . I was entrusting my most prized possession for someone else to take care of, and I am so happy I did! I walked in heart broken on Saturday and gave my set to Lisa, she told me she would take care of it, and have it back to be by or before Friday, and it was a holiday weekend. when I walked back into the store I was instantly greeted and Lisa brought out my ring, I was blown away. I cannot believe how beautiful it looks. she even put a ring guard on for me as it has been getting a little loose and I'm not ready to get it resized. I cannot believe I have lived in Toledo for 30 years and not known about this establishment. I felt welcome both times I was in the store and did not feel like I was going to be ripped off, taken advantage of, or over sold. All the staff is very kind and polite. Lisa is AMAZING! I will be referring all of my family and friends to Barrow's for all their jewelry needs. I also found out they repair watches, which I am also in need of, will upon repair of watch. Don't go to anyone else, if you want amazing work, great service, and great pricing, look no further then Barrow's....
Read moreI stopped into the store on 2/1/2020 to have some jewelry repaired. I needed my wife's wedding ring fixed plus a pair of earrings changed from white to yellow gold posts. Although she liked the earrings, she only wore them a couple times after purchase because the backs were loose and she preferred the yellow gold posts. It was busy when I entered the store about 1/2 hour before closing time. I was greeted by a courteous employee that asked me what I needed. I told her and she called Lisa Barrow to the counter. As I explained what I needed and that it was my wife's birthday , Lisa took the earrings and walked to her desk. As I continued to talk with the other employee, I noticed Lisa was working on the earrings. By this time the store was closing. She continued for about 15-20 minutes after closing, and had changed the posts on the earrings as I waited. Lisa placed them in gift box which she then wrapped and placed in a gift bag. She came back and handed them to me and said that now I had an additional gift to give my wife. I did and she wore them to dinner that evening. She enjoyed showing them to the 5 couples we were with. Lisa went above and beyond what I had expected and I am very pleased with the service I received that day. I will go back again! I highly recommend Barrows Jewelry now and will continue to do so in the future. Thanks to everyone there, especially Lisa....
