I wish we had a better experience for something my family was so excited for. Hope anyone going forward has a better experience than we did but beware. I was a certified CPO (Certified Pool Operator)at one point and knew a lot about pools and construction to give frame of reference.
Went under contract with Pool City on 8/17/23, was told by sales guy that we could complete the project before winter. Contract stated 3rd week of September start date. We were sent a diagram of the pool on 9/27 with the wrong pool dimensions from the “construction office”. After several attempts we were told permits were submitted and that was the hold up. Checked with township and county offices on 10/18 and no permits were even submitted yet. After a long conversation with the owner calling him out on it he was just trying to find excuses, office got covid, engineer and even grew upset by tone of his voice because I was questioning him. After 20-30 min Owner, finally was reassured progress with permits. Never apologized. Just said this is how the process goes.
10/24 plans were finally sent for permits to start the process. 11/15 the pool was finally starting to be dug. One point they had to pump water out of the ground and pumped it directly where their trucks would enter my yard and got stuck and tore it up my lawn. They don’t use any protections for your lawn. Poured concrete footings and got concrete all over the new equipment, left and didn't seem to care until I addressed it.
Filled with water by 12/15. Back filled and Closed the pool for the winter 12/17. I kept asking when final grading would be done and kept being told weather was an issue and was treated as if I was wrong to ask about it. They close their office in mid December through first week of Jan.
I even dug the trench for the gas line in January, I was told the construction office would call for the inspection. They never called. Snow storm came that weekend and walls caved in and had to pump it out myself and dig again since they never called.
3/22 finally came out for final grading. Asked about if they were busy and the equipment operators told me they had already dug 5 other pools before my final grading. Tech came out later that week to give me a rundown of equipment. After reading the manuals of the Hayward equipment they tell you in the manuals to not have unbalanced water running through salt cell and heater. Never bypasses any of that with mine. And ran for better part of two months without balancing.
4/22 coping started. 4/24 finally the concrete around the pool was finished. Over 8 months later. Finally no more construction!
Then called to set up closing which was included and cover install. Specifically set up a time for an afternoon appointment. Office even called me back to make the accommodation. Day of closing I come home at 12pm way before the appointment and pool was already closed. Asked my neighbor and they came around 10/10:30am. Went in my shed without approval to get things needed for closing the pool.
This was it for me and verbally let my frustrations out after the whole process on the owner and asked for accountability again. To which the owner eventually hung up on me. Every check was on time and paid in full on our end. I read reviews about the owner before the whole process and his lack of professionalism and raising his voice and temper when being called out or questioned. Found out the hard way they were all TRUE. There’s just zero accountability with this company and anything they say is hard to trust. I was reassured this one more time when I went to open my pool this spring and they never even closed the main drain valve during closing so water sat in those...
Read moreWe have 20 years of experience with Pool City. Sergio installed our first pool in 2004 and then again in 2013 after Super Storm Sandy. Our relationship with Sergio & Company has been irratic. The guys that did the weekly cleaning were always very helpful and courtesy. Overall the company lacks the technical skills and expertise to properly deal with an issue when one arises. We learned the hard way. Last season, when our pool cover was turned back, our pool water was black as coal. Sergio and company began shocking the pool every week. My husband 's body and hair began turning green. Sergio continued shocking the water. By the end of 2021,Sergio assured us the pool water issues were rectified. The pool was closed. In March of 2022, I received a call from Jennifer stating that Sergio wanted to start " fresh " this season and empty our pool out of the goodness of his heart without any additional expense to us. In April, the pool was emptied and refilled with fresh water and fresh sand in the filter. However, much to our surprise our liner was totally white. Sergio insisted the liner faded. I called Latham the pool liner company and they documented the only way a liner turns white is due to excessive chemicals. Know we cut our ties with Pool City, not before the staff asked my husband to leave the store. That is part of their M.O. Subsequently, we have learned after seeking out experts in the chemical field of the pool industry that it was totally inappropriate to drain a pool with a vinyl liner that is 9 years old. Sergio has caused our pool to be faded, wrinkled and damaged. Also we learned that our filter was too large for our pool and that was our second one Pool City sold us. In addition to to the insufficient amount of sand in our filter, we should have crystals installed in addition to sand for proper filtration. We knew none of this over 20 years, shame on us! In conclusion, it is recommended that the office/ store staff enroll in courses dealing in customer service to avoid being rude to their clientele. Good business skills...
Read moreI was extremely disappointed with the service of this company. After reading many reviews I thought I can trust them yet time and time again they disappointed me. I was trying to have them come down to repair my dads heater. We waited awhile for when a spot would open. The first time the service guy came after we explicitly asked that he be there when someone is there showed up unannounced a day earlier then our appointment when no-one was at the house and declared our heater working and left. Well our heater worked but the temperature of the water always read 90 or 91 even when the water was colder or hotter. they apologized - one star for that and said that someone would come down the ext. day at 1. I made sure to be there from 12:45 that day nothing doing no show and an apology at 2:15 sorry the technician couldn't make it. Called them back to reschedule and they said he can come from 2-3. I have carpool and couldn't be there then but could be there any other slot I asked if I can have the last slot and they said yes he will be there between 5-6. At 4:20 while I was on the way to the house to be there on time with my kids they called and said the technician says the heater is fine. I said you told me between 5-6 and they said no we said 4-5 which is absolutely untrue I was five minutes away and willing to pay for the technicians time to wait or for two service calls and they said well he cant wait because he has more stops after they told me that I would get the last stop. And he left. Save yourself the headache and use...
