Avoid Topeka iGurus at all cost!! I took an iPad 2 with a broken screen there about 5 months ago. 1st time the item was picked up the screen was loose and wasn't stuck down. Took it back, they were more than eager to fix it. They got the screen stuck down. We picked up the item the 2nd time and once we got home the wireless antennae no longer worked. We called and took it back, said it was a common problem to damage when disassembling them and they had antennae on hand, so they would fix it at no cost. Picked it up a 3rd time and all seemed fine, but didn't have the quality and feel of the original screen or ease of touch. It worked for about a month or two. Then the touch screen started acting up. One spot on the lower left corner always thought it was being touched. This made using the iPad next to impossible. Through online research this is a common problem when using cheap screens or digitizers. I ordered my own and all the tools from iFixit and started the repair myself. Once I opened up the iPad the iGurus forgot to put the 4 screws holding the LCD back in place. The LCD was completely loose within the iPad. In their attempt to "fix" the screen problem noted above, they used glue or double-sided tape on EVERYTHING. This made i it impossible to correctly remove the screen a 2nd time to replace their cheap screen with a quality product. Both upper left and right cellular antenna were stuck to the glass, so I ripped one of those. The volume/power ribbon was stuck to the glass which I ripped trying to get it apart since it was not supposed to be. Long story short, $100+ completed wasted to iGurus, not to mention 3 trips there and back (a 24 mile round trip) to incorrectly fix my iPad with cheap parts, then more money to get quality replacement parts and do it myself with online guides. Once I put the new screen, power/volume ribbon from iFixit back on, the device worked like new. Original feel and quality is back. However, I then realized why the glass wasn't stuck down the first time I got the device back from iGurus. The wireless antenna was put in incorrectly or the incorrect one was used. It doesn't fit as it should. I have a new one and will be replacing that next. I'm redoing EVERYTHING they fixed and then some since they re-installed items incorrectly. Avoid Topeka iGurus at all costs. I wouldn't have them fix another item for free. 3 attempts is more than enough. They shouldn't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was disappointed with my experience and the customer service I received. The first screen they put on my phone was bad. I took the phone back a week later and they said they would give me a new screen at no cost. After replacing the second screen and I picked up the phone they informed me the water damage indicators were red, meaning it had water damage and that could be the reason my phone was acting unusual. They told me things as simple as having the phone in a steamy bathroom or in the rain could cause this.. my phone was exposed to neither. Nothing was said about the indicator lights being red the first time I took the phone in, and they affirmed the water damage occurred either in that week OR that the indicator lights were red before but they just got more red over that week. I accepted the phone anyway and after that it seemed much slower than it had previously and the screen would freeze. Also, the glass screen protector they sold me was put on poorly and had a thick line in it. When I came back in a third time and told them how my phone was acting they said it was probably the water damage and there was nothing they could do. They said they were willing to give me back my money and put another broken screen on the phone... but my phone didn't have performance problems before they messed with it. The clerk I spoke with said that's why they give people a disclaimer their phone may not work the same after the screen is replaced, I don't recall being told that. They also pointed out they replaced my first screen for free like they did me a favor. If something doesn't work within a week of purchase if their product is faulty, it seems like a given that they would happily replace it. It's simply my word against theirs, but I was very put off by their "it's not us, it's you attitude." Something just seems fishy, but what can you do besides never do business with them again and telling other people about...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTook my iPhone 6 in to Topeka location to get my screen replaced. Siri was also not working from a previous owner who I bought it from. iGurus misdiagnosed it three times, first saying bad speaker, then bad microphone, then a bad logic board. I had to tell them what I was reading online about the microphone being misaligned. They replaced the screen with what they called an "OEM" screen that had a bad pixel on it. I had to drive across town to have them replace that brand new screen. New screen worked fine. They began testing the microphone and speaker phone. They could not get sound out of the voice dictation. Finally I took the phone and took it off mute and it worked. I left after paying $150 for this circus called the iGurus. Fast forward 5 months. I noticed my screen was separating from the frame, and this caused a crack in the screen. I knew full well if I took it back in, it would be determined that it was my fault. Therefore, I was NOT going back to iGurus, so I bought a screen online. After disassembling my phone, I noticed FOUR screws were missing and a gasket for the proximity sensor (?) was missing from the previous screen replacement by the "iGurus". And the quality of that screen on the inside?? TERRIBLE. Cheap. Definitely NOT "OEM" as they stated. They get pretty good reviews I see, but most of these are probably from the Lawrence store. There are a few terrible reviews of the Topeka store which is where I went, and my experience also was less than ideal. Anyhow, within an hour my phone was up and running good as ever with a much better quality LCD/digitizer for $50. And I had purchased a package of extra screws on eBay to replace the FOUR that they lost that caused the screen to separate from the frame. Phone was in much better hands doing this myself than risking more damage to my phone by taking it to the "iGurus". Word of caution, be careful and do your...
