Oriental Express — Restaurant in Topeka

This place has been really hit or miss. I personally will not have it delivered and will only dine in. Deliver was really slow both times I tried it and both times the delivery was a disappointment.

In terms of hit or miss, their soups are really good, but the summer rolls, crab rangoon, and egg rolls were quite disappointing. The main dishes were somewhat similar. The bento boxes were pretty good, like my husband's teriyaki chicken was really delicious, but my non-bento sweet and sour chicken was kind of tough and lacking. On a later trip I had some pineapple curry chicken that was also really good.

In terms of sushi, they have a very wide selection and reasonable prices. A friend and I tried two different rolls. The spider roll was huge and very good. The spicy tuna roll was okay and also a decent portion size.

The wait staff also took decent care of us on any visit, but you sometimes feel a little forgotten in a busy room with not quite enough staff.

Personally, I would actually give this place a 3.5 because their hits were excellent, but there are enough misses that I can't...

I'm a truck driver staying at a hotel. I NEVER go out to eat. However, i wanted to treat myself. I ordered PAD THAI, EGG ROLLS, CRAB RANGOON, AND SUSHI. I planned on having plenty of leftovers as I'll be here a few days. I took a bite of the BEEF PAD THAI (WITH EXTRA VEGGIES). IT'S DISGUSTING! Doesn't even taste anything like pad thai... A TON of some RED CHILI OIL, no taste at all of green onions or the TAMARIND paste that is used to make the sauce. There was NO option on the app to choose MILD. Usually, PAD THAI has that option and/or theyll put the red pepper flakes on the side. This was DRENCHED IN OIL. MY HOMEMADE pad thai is better than this garbage. No extra veggies either. Noodles over cooked. My CRAB RANGOONS and EGG ROLLS were cold. No flavor. SUSHI IS SUBPAR. This place has mostly rave reviews, and pics look great! However, not my experience at all. First I am going to start out with their one con, the egg rolls. I usually enjoy egg rolls but for some reason this one time they tasted bad.

OMG, let me tell you about their Ginger Green Salad. This Dressing is the best, anywhere, hands down. They also add artificial crab and sesame seeds on top. This has to be close to a quarter of a head of iceberg lettuce. SO FANTASTIC!!! Both of us got these and will return just for these.

The wife got the Egg Drop soup and I got the Hot Sour Soup, both were exceptional but severely lacking in size compared to others soups.

For our main course the wife had the Sweet Sour Pork and I had the General Tso Chicken. Both were the Bento Box Meals so they came with Fried Tempura, rice (fried for 1.50 more), egg roll or crab rangoon (we chose the egg rolls), and chocolate cake. The food was mediocre to good.
