Chateau La Mer: 6/3/18 When we first saw the venue, we fell in love with the outside ceremony area and the reception room. We thought that it would be a gorgeous fairytale wedding, but in fact, the only good things about the venue were the decor and the food was pretty good, overall. Let’s start from the beginning..... The mater’d and the bridal attendant (I don’t even know their names due to the lack of attention we got from them) were horrendous. Shortly after we met them they disappeared and we constantly had to look for them. When we were taking family photos before the ceremony, outside guests had no direction from the venue staff where to go, so they came outside and saw the bride before the ceremony. The ceremony was scheduled to start at 6pm, but didn’t actually start until about 6:45pm, because according to the Mater’d, it took the staff a while to get all of the guests from the previous wedding upstairs to their reception room (which we were assured by the banquet manager-Bill, that something like that was not going to be an issue, because they have a system and know what they’re doing....apparently not). The groom had to ask servers during cocktail hour numerous times to replenish plates, because the plates had run out and the guests couldn’t continue to eat.
During the reception, the MC/DJ was told to have people seated for dinner courses by 9:30pm, which he did, even though the food didn’t come out until 5 minutes to 10pm. The MC/DJ with the bride and groom were very upset because for that 30 minutes everyone could have been dancing instead of waiting around for their food that would or wouldn’t be served....with or without steak knives. Bill, the banquet manager, afterwards, came to the bride and groom table during dinner, to complain and vent to us about the MC/DJ. He told us that he and his staff was running the show and not the MC/DJ or anyone else.....the MC/DJ had the microphone, he was entertaining the guests and essentially doing exactly what he was hired to do by the bride and groom...he was running the show at that point, and not the horrendous and inattentive servers, staff and banquet manager. It was terrible and unprofessional for the banquet manager to come to us on our wedding day to complain and argue. Back to the mater’d and bridal attendant, the bride needed help throughout the night with her bustle and no one was to be found; all I remember them doing is bringing 2 rounds of drinks to us...one of which was a shot of that cheap tequila.
The service and servers were beyond horrendous!!! Guests had to come up to the kitchen to ask for steak knives after repeatedly asking their servers who never brought them. When guests tried to order drinks from the servers, they were told to go to the bar—the servers were overall very dismissive, when they were actually around. We paid for premium liquor, and assured we were going to have premium liquor, yet the only tequila they were serving was “Pepe Lopez,” which they were passing off as patron (in what world is “Pepe Lopez” a premium tequila brand???)—when the groom went to the bar himself to order a shot of patron with several of the guests, and were served “Pepe Lopez” tequila (it was beyond embarrassing for the groom!) He was told that this was the only tequila that they carry, even though we were assured that we would have premium alcohol such as Grey Goose, Kettle One, Hennessy, Johnny Walker Black Label and Patron. *If service and proper organization is important to you and your guests, you may want to consider a...
Read moreI had planned my wedding in New York all the way from Arizona! Chateau was one of the venues on our list. Being that we were so far away we had to have many zoom meetings and phone conversations! But Taylor was extremely attentive in every question and/or concern we had. From numerous meetings to our big day and it was absolutely beautiful!! All of the staff were extremely helpful and attentive our entire wedding day on 7-5-25!! The only thing that happened was they had painters painting during our line up for the ceremony but the girls quickly handled that situation and made sure they were out of the way! Usually some venues wouldn’t even budge but Taylor and her team quickly handled the situation!!
I have to say although I wish I remembered her name, our bridal attendant was AMAZING!! And I mean she went above and beyond anything I could have imagined with a venue!! I had my one year old with us who at times was getting restless and wanted to play. Our bridal attendant went as far as staying in our bridal suite to hangout with him to HOLDING him during our speeches (as most the family was giving a speech). I mean at times she was playing with him, feeding him a bottle so we could eat, absolutely above and beyond, without us even having to ask her!! If you could, I would recommend you specifically request her for your wedding day! Just give them my wedding date lol🤣
The team was also so amazing down to our servers, cooks, helpers, etc. everyone went out of their way to ensure everything was absolutely perfect!! So thank you Chateau La Mer you made our wedding day SO special and a night we are all still...
Read moreMy cousin had her wedding there over the weekend. The location was beautiful and the maitre’d were the only positive things, I could say about the venue. She was the only one out of the entire staff that seemed like they cared about the event. The manager Taylor said that she would be there the night of but only came in after multiple guest complaints and demands of her coming in. Now she is saying that there was nothing wrong, there were no ants in the drinks and nothing was wrong. Why would you give us bottles of liquor on the way out and say this is for our mistake and we are so sorry that it happened? The other workers were terrible. You could tell they all hated their jobs. Attitudes given by them if you asked them for anything. They made multiple errors when it came to food and service and the food was nothing to write home about. The chicken was dry and the bread was hard as a rock. The cocktail food was decent but nothing over the top amazing. The bartender and bridal attendant took shots while on duty at the bar. With the liquor for the wedding. The service was not up to par for what you pay. When you pay a small fortune for a venue, you shouldn’t be served two trays of fruit and ritz crackers and cheddar cheese. when you come in and ask for a drink you shouldn’t be told that the bar isn’t open yet., but I’ll see what I can do. I’ve lived in Lindenhurst my whole life this place used to be great. It’s a shame to see how the service and food went downhill .There are so many great venues to have your wedding at on Long Island. Do yourself a favor don’t...
