This park is a really wonderful place! Been coming here a long time now. Clean and Plenty of trails to run/walk or bicycle on. Playground, row boat rental on the lake, no houses to see so it's private/romantic time. You can fish in the park. You just have to make sure you have your freshwater license. There is a park ranger station on the premises so there always patrolling around keeping an eye on things for our saftey. Big baseball fields and picnic/ BBQ areas with big restroom facilities and more then one in more then one place. The long island steamers are also found in this park. ( small trains to ride on with the kids) yes real trains. Just very small versions, but live steamer trains! The trains take you around a section of the park. Nice safe place. I recommend this to anyone that just wants to relax and look at nature and birds and all and...

Anyone who gives this campground anything more than 2 stars is LYING! This place was overrun by garbage, bugs and unsanitary conditions! There were more cigarette butts than trees! In the bathroom there were cobwebs EVERYWHERE. Its like someone inherited the site and never did anything for the land. Ive been camping so many times in other NY, NJ and PA campgrounds and have never suffered these types of conditions. The camp sites weren't treated so there was a huge infestation of HUGE ants and spiders everywhere plus aggressive mosquitoes. I know we were in the elements but Ive never seen such a thing. They didn't have fire pits either. It was just land and bugs. We cut our trip short and can confirm we will NEVER EVER camp there again. Like NEVER. And you...

Very cool Pine Barrens nature park. been coming here since I was a little kid. Very relaxing, awesome picnic areas, and playgrounds. Little boat rental place. So many amazing memories here. There are trails too that people use for hiking & running through the more woodsey parks. Lots of wildlife, lots of history, and believe it or not, swans can bite! If you want to feed the waterfowl, please please please do not feed them bread of any kind. It messes with their nutritional needs and can cause serious disabling deformities known as angel wing. If you are going to feed them, pick up duck food at Shirley Feed and only put it on the grass, don't throw it in the water,...

I walked around in an autumn day and was pleasantly impressed with the park and its surroundings. Looks like a nice place for a hike. There are many picnic areas that look like a good place to relax and meet up with friends or family and get away from the hustle and bustle of the Island. There were many deer around in the morning , so ticks might be an issue/ as they are in many places on Long Island and elsewhere. I my review was helpful please consider selecting the thumbs up button- thanks and if you go; enjoy your time there.

I came from Nassau to visit this park because I've heard good things. Unfortunately, I was not impressed by anything the park had to offer. The trails and amenities were not well maintained and there was a lot of garbage around. The worst part was that the trails had little to no markings which made it tough to navigate through. The trails were surrounded by thick brush which was a good thing; it made you feel like you were in the middle of no where. Overall the park is average.
