Hudson Valley Shooting Sports — Attraction in Town of Carmel

Have been here a few times over the past couple years. If you're looking for a comprehensive pro/con review, here goes:

Pros:

Staff is knowledgeable and friendly

Online site is actually really well-optimized for mobile use. RESERVE YOUR LANES AHEAD OF TIME just in case. You can do so online or by phone.

Lane pricing per person is pretty good. I recommend 2 people per lane but as long as you're responsible and respectful they'll work with you. It works out well for groups of 2-5 as you have the whole area to yourself and can take it at your pace.

Ammo sold on site is decently priced but you can bring your own (No Steel Core, no recycled). They do check with a magnet.

Range is monitored every second by multiple cameras and staff.

Felix (The owner) seems like he genuinely loves the simplicity and purity of firearms and has a lot of stories if you get him talking lol. It adds to the character of the place too. He didn't sell us BS, didn't try to run up prices, just legitimately gave us pointers on how to get the most out of our experience and was willing to go out of his way to help do so.

The younger staff are funny and honest about everything, and knew their stuff. Some of them have been around for years, you may even recognize them from airsoft. They did really well to diffuse an awkward situation with Rich, who was "Grumpy and needed a Snickers." (But then Rich came back and was funny)

If nobody is waiting to use the range after you, they tend not to bother you. We spent a good 10 min extra (Then cleaned up) and weren't asked to hurry up or anything. Just don't take advantage of them, but if there's nobody waiting they seem to like letting people have their fun.

The lanes are cleaned well and fairly often, which makes it a safer experience for everyone.

If you are going to inquire about their nerf wars party do not! They are very nice people BUT the atmosphere NO! The guns kept jamming on the kids I do not think their play time was for what you pay for. The private room they offer NO! Not your typical party rooms in any facility examples bounce, Billy bees, or Chucky Cheese. It’s a regular room just all different types of tables and the chairs were disgusting with holes not decent it was just down right disappointing. I was honestly embarrassed to throw my sons party there with the way it looked. I had three other mothers with me and I was embarrassed. I do not throw parties in those type of conditions. I did it for my son but absolutely note to self go to the facility first before booking anything. I thought the pictures on the site was going to replicate what it would look like inside but that was not the case.

Don’t get me wrong they were very nice people and I am a thousand percent they are knowledgeable in sales and what their facility states but definitely not for any party. Sorry but not sorry. I would highly suggest to go to the facility and see for yourself before booking any party especially if it’s for a youngster and his friends. They were some what happy but felt they didn’t get a lot of play time. They didn’t have essentials for anyone throwing a party if you are going to charge $325 it has to be well worth it and it was not. I purchased the party essentials which was fine but they did not have a knife just was very disappointed.

Have been coming to this range for well over two years now. The range is clean, temperature controlled, and well ventilated. The length is 25 yards, and there are two slots, so it is pretty private. To comment on one of the unfairly poor reviews, while there is technically no range officer, the staff keep a close eye on what’s going on by camera. If somebody does something incorrect, or dangerous, the staff will call a cease fire.

I have used them as an FFL for buying and selling several firearms. They are fairly priced, and they always so a professional job.
