A few months back, my husband and I stumbled across this restaurant. We live in the Bronx and are up in Westchester and putnam counties often. Although the prices are a bit high for the portion sizes, the food is good, not great. The decor is so cute... love the little booths and the staff is nice. We've been there 2 other times and then today for my birthday. Since it was midday, we didn't eat much but we still ordered a cold antipasto and veal cutlet parm. The cold antipasto was $12.95 for 1 and there were just 2 pcs of provolone. Really?? The veal cutlet parm had just 3 pcs... not even average size but small. One piece was literally the size of a fig!!! The veal was tough. It came with a small dish of pasta and a salad for $19.95. I was not happy with the quantity and less happier with the quality. When I got the bill, the veal parm had $5 added to it bc we shared!!! First, I don't agree with paying for sharing but if that's the policy, do be it. Yes, it was on the menu... in teeny tiny writing on the bottom... which, of course the waitress could have quickly reminded me of... NO EXCUSES! I waited for 20 years!! Also, I could have taken that $5 and put it towards another dish. Unbeknown to me, the cold antipasto did not count as a second dish which is unfair as a paying patron. Who suffered? The waitress... i felt bad not tipping the usual 20% but since I had to give the $5 to the restaurant, she had to take the loss, sorry!! I don't like to be "nickled and dimed" ...i will not be going back! There are a million other places to eat where the food is better, the prices are cheaper and the portions...
Read moreUpdate. Time and time again I keep coming back for more. I already left a review but I feel I didn’t do Prato justice. Let’s break down the actual pizza.
The cheese - Amazing. Not to oily. Not to chewy. Very enjoyable flavor.
The flop - Very good! Sturdy enough to taco but you’d have to use two hands. The actual size of the pizza is above average you get a lot for what you’re ordering.
The sauce - This is where Prato gets me every time. There must be something in the sauce because each bite is bursting with bold flavors.
Toppings - if you’re going for a traditional pepperoni pie you’re in the right place. They somehow have managed to achieve the perfect cheese to sauce to toppings ratio this side of the Mississippi. Honestly I’d put them in my top 5 favorite pizza contenders.
The crust - Superb! I wish the crust was a little thinner but it’s crunchy with an excellent chew experience.
Suggestion... keep doing what you’re doing
Customer service... always delightful and nice.
Original review. Nothing like crushing a pizza at the end of a long work day. Prato knows how to make a perfect slice. Even the crust makes you want to chew extra long just to enjoy the flavor. Definitely will be going back. Yes $18 for a large pepperoni pizza is a little on the expensive side but it’s worth it. Staff is...
