With ābagelsā in their name, youād think Empire Bagels would at least get that right. But youād be wrong.
Iāve been in this place 10 times and 10 out of 10 times when I ask for ālox spreadā ā which for some reason is called ānova spreadā and is right above āsliced loxā on their menu ā theyāre out of it.
Seems to me that a bagel place without lox spread is an imitation bagel place. Almost bait-and-switch level messaging. Any legit NYer knows bagel joints have plenty of lox spread on hand, ready to schmear on a bagel at a momentās notice.
āWhy is this person so obsessed with lox spread?!ā you may ask yourself. I know I would. It goes to authenticity; attention to detail; saying what you mean and meaning what you say. Old-fashioned values that shouldnāt be so old fashioned.
If you canāt get the basics right, then why would I bother with the rest of your place?
Add in consistently poor customer service and stupid-high prices and it seals the deal. Do yourself a favor and go to another legit bagel place in Carmel; one that has lox spread because REAL bagels shops care about their customers and serving...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWriting a whole new review. Iāve been getting food from empire bagels since this summer and here is my take on it so far.
The food is good however; The wait time for people who call ahead for pickup is unacceptable. Staff will take care of anyone who orders in store first, before distributing the finished to go orders behind the counter.
They never make my sandwiches right. They always forget special details; Hot sauce, bacon, adding Mayo when it was never asked forš, Swiss cheese instead of pepper jack... Which by the way check your receipts Bc if you ask for special ingredients on your sandwich they may charge you for it and totally forget to put it on your sandwich!!!š
I have brought this to their attention multiple times. After the last time I called and complained back in the beginning of October, I stopped ordering from them.
Just gave them a chance to redeem themselves today & yet again my sandwich was messsed up & instead of helping the people waiting for their food, two workers were chatting behind the counter.
Iāll go to Cameronās instead from now on. Not worth my time and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place recently opened and as a employee of the plaza, I knew I had to check it out. The inside is absolutely gorgeous, The lobby has plenty of space and the waiting area has plenty of space. I've ordered more than a few things on this menu, including bagels, paninis, smoothies, and a couple items off of the vegan menu. The fact that there's a vegan menu alone makes this place a great competitor for all sorts of restaurants in the area. I've been vegan for about 2 years and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of their tofu cutlet on the chicken parm substitute. Their bagels are amazing my favorite is sesame with vegan cream cheese. usually vegan cream cheese is kind of disgusting but theirs is pretty good. prices are pretty cheap and the staff are friendly and willing to help out with recommendations. I've yet to try their coffee beverages, but hear that they're pretty good. I will definitely be returning and would recommend anybody else try this place if they are in the area with a hankering for a bacon egg and...
