This is a beautiful park, no disputing that. I must say though that the two men working there today are making many people's visit undesirable. The only shady spot with benches in the courtyard in front of the lake had a sprinkler going so no one could sit on those benches unless they wanted to become soaking wet. May I remind you that a lot of elderly people need to sit in the shade ? Also, there are people with dogs and the dogs need the shade too. There were chairs set up for perhaps a wedding later that day and some people sat there to get out of the sun but one of the men told them they had to move. The wedding wasn't for hours and these were fold up chairs. How sad it is for the disabled people who are not allowed to sit inside your facility. I was told by one of these men it was because they make a mess and HE had to clean up after them. It must be very difficult for him to get off his vehicle that he rides around on all day to pick up a few things left on the floor. God forbid he worked in a movie theater ! He also went on about the mess the " farmers " leave behind which is not true. I wonder if he knows how much these vendors are charged to park their trucks in your lot. I will be calling the town supervisor first thing Monday morning . If nothing changes then I will write an open letter to the Times Union. This is disgraceful behavior and I for one am...
Read moreI love The Crossings and Town of Colonie residents are so fortunate to have this park! This is on prime Capital Region real estate and I'm sure some developer would have loved to get his or her hands on it!
I always like to park near the playground since there is a building with restrooms there. They also have some nice rooms that you can rent for events like baby showers, but I'm fairly sure this books up quickly. A friend recently attended an event in one of the picnic pavilions, so that's another option if you are looking to throw a low key party here.
Over the years I've come here numerous times to walk or rollerblade. There are so many great trails! It's usually not terribly crowded, so it's an enjoyable time. Another friend has come here a lot to train for 5k races with others, this is the perfect place for that type of thing.
I've also seen prom and wedding photos taken here, so that's another great use of this park and gazebo. Another local friend just attended a free concert here a couple of weeks ago, so there are some nice activities to check out here throughout the year.
I think this would be a great place to take a young child that is learning to ride a bike since you can get on a path and away from cars.
Really nice park and worth checking out for a...
Read moreMake sure to check over the long bullet pointed list of rules before going to do any activity there. I’m new to the area, and every park I’ve gone to with a pond allows fishing. So when I saw there was a park with a pond close to my work, I got super excited! The water was kinda gross and had some trash in the water. But, figured I would give it a try. However after fishing for a little bit and landing a carp, and older man that must be a steward or something pulled up in his side by side and told me “can’t do that”. When I was able to get clarification on what he was referring to, I asked where the sign was that said I couldn’t fish. He then just pointed at a sign, which is a “do not feed waterfowl” sign that has more ruled bulleted underneath it. I was a little upset with the lack of accessibility, in terms of signage, coming from a town park. What made me more upset, was how I was treated by that employee after. I was asked to leave the park, as well as being followed by the employee to ensure I went back to my vehicle. All that to be said, it’s a very cool park, with a huge playground that’s great for kids. I however, I will never be going back to this park ever again. I can view a pond infested by blue green algae someplace else,...
