Hage Tailor Shop — Attraction in Town of Cortlandville

At first I felt confident that my bridesmaid dress would be ready in time and on the date that was given to me. I needed my dress shortened. It was supposed to be done May 7th and wasn’t ready until May 10th, 4 days before the wedding. They didn’t call me to tell me the dress was done, I had to call them. They were not professional. They didn’t even have me try on the dress when I picked it up to ensure it’s up to standard and I wondered why until I got home I found out why. The dress is uneven, cut was choppy, the string that goes around my neck to tie the dress was cut and not sowed so it’s starting to tear. There are strings everywhere around the bottom of the skirt which I have to now cut so they don’t show. The straps that wrap around my waist were cut uneven as well. Which they charged me extra to do. And to make matters worse when I got to the store and got my dress I had to pay in cash which I found sketchy, she then commented on my weight telling me I shouldn’t gain anymore weight or the dress won’t fit me. As a professional you should never comment on someone’s body. I will never go here again. It seems like they only care about the money and not their customers. If they were too busy they should have told me so and I would have gone somewhere else. They not only wasted my time but...

I have been going to Lu at Hage Tailor shop off and on for many years for alterations on many items. Everything from taking in the waist for several pairs of my work pants (6-8 pairs), hemming a strapless prom dress and using the extra material from the hem to make thin straps, helping to get the zipper on my sports bra replaced, and most recently when my son got married in June, hemming my mother of the groom dress and hemming my daughter's bridesmaid's dress, as well as altering the dress from the waist up so it fit more comfortably. Despite this being prom, graduation and wedding season, our dresses were ready on time and the alterations were perfect. Yes, the shop is small, but so what--it's the service and the feeling of being welcome in that small space that counts. Lu is so personable and sweet and she tries her hardest to alter clothing to her customer's satisfaction and wishes. I will continue to go to Lu for any clothing alterations I need...

I had nothing short of an amazing experience at Hage Tailor Shop. My dress came two weeks before my event and it needed to be hemmed. I called all over Ithaca and no one could get it done in time. Luckily, I found Hage in Cortland! I called, and Lou said no problem, bring it in. Lou is professional as well as extremely personable. You just want to sit down and have a cup of coffee with her! She measured my dress and sent me on my way. Five short days later, the dress was done. It was hemmed to perfection, falling elegantly to the perfect length. Lou's prices are also reasonable, and what I expected to pay. Lou has gained a customer for life and I'm so glad that I've found Hage Tailor Shop...
