Dougs Fish Fry — Restaurant in Town of Cortlandville

Went to the mobile location today august 12 2020 around 130 pm walked up to order fish sandwich was told i cannot order without a mask. I politely explained sir I have horrible asthma condition I do not wear a mask and have been advised by my doctor not to do so.. He then said here is a mask put it over your face and order and take it off. The counter is 3 feet higher than my head nonetheless. I think he was a peter puffer honestly I explained I have not had this issue anywhere else in Seneca county. This is beyond ridiculous I was a customer for decades but with this treatment Ill take my hard earned money elsewhere. I say thank you after they call my name to come get the food but did I get a response back no of course not. IF YOU CAN WEAR A MASK... THEN WEAR IT, BUT.... Did you know that there are numerous valid reasons to NOT wear a mask?

So the next time that you see someone out and about that is not wearing a mask, please do not HARASS or BULLY that person. You do NOT know their situation or their personal physical or mental health struggles. If you want to wear a mask, that is fine for you, but please do not become a mask bully and make an already difficult situation even worse for those around you with your nasty looks or your rude remarks.This is not natzi Germany here in the US our veterans fought and spilled blood for our rights and here they are trampled on daily by our govenors this govenor in NYS specifically. The world is no safer with masks stop caving to the fear these ruthless corrupt dictator politicians push down our throats.

Sad Day at Doug’s….

We are old fans from way back, including mobile takeout at our little Finger Lakes village, so when my chef hubby and I found ourselves in the vicinity the other day, we just HAD to stop. It was great to be greeted by the friendly lad behind the counter, and see the tartar sauce is still on point. Unfortunately, that where the comparison ended for us. Our old favorites, ordered to go to eat a few miles up the road, were a dismal shadow of meals past. The flaccid french fries were undercooked and unsalted. So too with our fondly remembered crispy fish - this, wilted and soggy, it had soaked its bottom bun. My personal favorite scallops had been demoted to scallop ‘chips’, with a few halves for consolation. Gone was our old Doug’s, and a sad thing that is. Had we not paid $50+tip for this conglomeration of imposters, it might have been forgivable, but the price was certainly not a reflection of our happily awaited supper. I came in with high hopes. Everyone out in Greene talks very highly about this place, and I miss them every time they bring their red trailer out to Greene, so I drove 40 minutes to try them here in Cortland and I will say it was interesting. The place is cute, decent amount of seating, you order then sit then go get food when they call for you. I used the touch screen on the wall to order. My partner got just the chicken as he is not a fan of seafood and was only there because of me lol, I got the grilled salmon, fries, and Mac and cheese. Salmon was cooked perfectly, wish it had a tad more flavor, the Mac and cheese was good, but the fries were so boring, I personally didn't care for them. Over all I give a 5/10, i just didn't vibe to much with it. I also am slightly bothered that their trays are only wiped down with a sanitizer wipes before being put in the pile to be used again, no offense but that doesn't seem cleansly enough, even for a restaurant...
