Cortland Buffet — Restaurant in Town of Cortlandville

Came in to eat dinner with my family tonight (12/28/24) we were seated fairly quickly and as I sat my kids down with their food I went up to gather mine. I sat down for not even a minute before putting a mushroom in my mouth, feeling a nasty crunch and pulls out a cockroach out. I tried getting the man who sat us and he looked at me and walked the other direction as I was asking him to come to me. My father had to pull him aside and he had nothing to say. So we left. No apology nothing. I highly recommend to not eat here. I am disgusted and repulsed by this. We order to go about 99% if the time. The lady who works the front and answers the phone is amazing! She knows who it is calling and knows what my son likes to special order that is off the paper menu. Because we order to go, the food is always hot and fresh. She is always so nice, tossing in a lot of extra fortune cookies or a doughnut or two or some other treat for my son. Even the rest of the staff are really nice. Last time we bought food there, I stopped and ordered onsite instead of calling ahead. It was a cold sleeting night. She asked the young staff member bring me tea while I waited. I always do take-out so I can’t give much of a review on service, but I can tell you a bit about the food. Over the years the food selection has decreased substantially, and they only have a few good choices left. Since I always get the same exact thing, I would say their chicken and rice/noodles are very good. But I haven’t tried any of their other things. I feel like they could definitely do better if they increased their food selection, and remodeled the inside a a bit. The walls look worn down, carpets are dirty, and random things lying around.
