I have been attending Lakeland for a little over five years and have been greatly blessed by their ministry! Upon entering the church grounds on Sundays, you are greeted by friendly volunteers working the parking lots, entry points, and lobby. The kids rooms are staffed with volunteers who care for your kids and encourage them! My preschooler is always sharing afterwards about the project he did in class and what he learned about Jesus.
Once you are in the sanctuary be prepared to get your worship on! The teams leading seek to prepare the audience for an authentic encounter with GOD. The modern style may be new and different than what some are used to, but worship comes in all forms.
The sermons never cease to encourage and challenge my husband and I. We always leave saying, 'It is like he knew EXACTLY what I needed'. I have grown up in church all my life, gone to a Christian college and still can barely think of 3 sermons that I heard or changed my life in that time. That cannot be said about the messages here. They stick with you and several have led to huge break throughs and wins in my spiritual life.
I love the community that is here as well. We are a big church, and coming from a small church background, I know it can be frustrating when you don't feel connected. That is one reason such emphasis is put on small groups and serving. Getting in groups connects you and challenges you in your everyday life. They are like an extended family who will be there for you in times of need and to celebrate wins. There is a verse 'As iron sharpens iron, so does a good friend'. The people in the groups I have been in have helped me live out my faith more intentionally and and become a better follower of Jesus.
They have a number of other ministries that seek to meet you where you are and provide support. I was greatly cared for by their prayer team after my miscarriage. To this day, I treasure the words and verses they gave me. MOPS provides a great opportunity during the week for moms with preschoolers to have a time to fill their cup and encounter Jesus. Celebrate recovery always has amazing testimonies about what GOD is doing in the lives of their members as well.
Josh and the other pastors are very kind and personable. They authentically care for their flock and long for GOD to meet each person every week. After being there as long as I have, I can see how genuine their hearts are for reaching everyone with the good news of Jesus.
The mission statement of Lakeland is 'Leading people to follow Jesus, be changed by Jesus, and committed to the mission of Jesus... because lives are at stake'. This is how they see things and make decisions. If you are looking for a church to just come to in order to check it off your to do list for the week, you may not like it. However, if you are looking for something new or life changing- you should check it out! Bring an open mind...
Read moreMy friend Kendra and her husband are members of your church. My husband and I are transplants from Chgo and it's NW suburbs. Since we came to WI 4 yrs ago, I have been looking for a very Bible based church and Kendra told me of Lakeland. Because of health issues, both my husband Ken and I haven't been able to come to Lakeland. Praise God for you Pastor Josh and your Pastoral staff. I started watching your services via You Tube several mos ago and haven't missed a single sermon since. I have learned so much more from the Bible even though I've read all 66 books, as you've explained so many of the verses whereas Ken, who is Catholic, actually enjoys reading his Bible with me, something I have Prayed for most of our married life. We read the Word together and we pray together, an answer to prayer for me and all because we found Lakeland, you and your staff. There is so much I want to say and hopefully, very soon, we will be able to come to church. Your sermons are an inspiration to me. My days are more joyous and I know the Lord is by my side, every second of the day. It has been difficult finding "believers" to talk to, to have a relationship with. Kendra is another answer to Prayer and I'm so grateful 🙏 for her friendship. I LOVE to talk about the Lord and His Word. There are very few people in my life I can do these things with. Thank you for your sermons every week. They have given me peace and my Faith in God is stronger than ever, all because of finding Lakeland church, courtesy of my sister in Christ, Kendra. You and your staff keep doing what you do every wee and I'll keep watching. . I am sure my husband and I will make it to Lakeland towards the end of August, his doctor visits done for the time being. Just watching your sermons every week has told me that I've finally found a home, a church I want to support and belong to. Sincerely,...
Read moreThis Church is not LGBTQ friendly by a long shot. They are not all inclusive. Come as you are but leave as we want you to be is what their sign should say. It’s extremely disturbing and quite sad to me that a Church this large and wealthy exsists so comfortably in our community. I feel much closer to God in my living room or backyard than in this ridiculous spectacle of a Church. It’s the opposite of what Jesus had in mind, in my opinion. Wish I could give them zero stars. Years later you want to “make it right?” Your Church pushed away our family and guided others to push us out of the Williams Bay community. Josh the pastor told his young daughter to preach to other kids about our daughter at school. That our child was unacceptable to God because she is transgender. He coached another family to tell their child to find new friends at school as our daughter wasn’t worthy because she was trans. All in the name of God? That can not be made “right.” It’s not McDonalds. You didn’t mess up our burger. You hurt children. You hurt not just our family, but completely blew a teachable moment for your so called Church. An opportunity to truly reflect Gods love and inclusivity. Your Church is not doing Gods work. It’s stroking your egos and is simply a big business. “What you do to the least of my brothers and sisters, you do to me” Trans people are such a marginalized minority. Especially in Walworth County. How hard is it to be kind and welcoming to a child? Gender dysphoria exists. It has since the beginning of time. Educate yourself! My daughter is an incredible human being! My son had many gifts to share as well. Either will never share their gifts with your narrow minded, uneducated...
