What a fabulous place! Wine and spirit tasting with plenty of flavors to choose from and purchase. Specialty glassware and other items for wine, vodkas, and bourbon. There is another area that showcases fudge, jams, salsas, cheeses, and so much more. Unfortunately, I do have to add some negative issues that we encountered. The building is completely accessible. Doors have automatic openers, there is a full elevator to access the floors, and there is a lift from the main floor to the area that sells the fudge. There is a sign on the lift asking that you wait for a staff member. A staff member came and continually told my daughter not to touch anything, so she didn't. The woman continues to be extremely rude not only with this lift but while we are shopping as if we are bothering her. We make some purchases and leave this area. Again, the woman gives my daughter some attitude with the lift. We shop upstairs, then learn we have to check out back in the fudge area, so back down the lift we go. This time, the woman is VERY vocal about my daughter using this lift. Another staff member came from above to help my daughter while the rude staff member kept telling my daughter to stop touching buttons, etc. My daughter is an adult who just happens to use a chair for mobility, and Jennifer, whom I found out her name is being grossly rude to the point that the staff member helping kept apologizing for her behavior. Jennifer's behavior toward my daughter, saying my daughter is touching buttons because "She saw her" when infact the other staff member was contolling the lift from above, was absolutely unacceptable not only as a staff member but in general. She is not someone I would want representing my business. I don't know the name of the staff member who helped my daughter, but she had a unique tattoo on her wrist, which was funny, I would like to...
Read moreI visited several wineries while in Door County with Door Peninsula being the first. It was very hard to visit some of the other wineries after being here first. There is so much to discover here from over 50 delicious wines a distillary with flavored moonshine, Bourbons, other liquor, cheeses, dips gifts and an amazingly spacious building. I love sweet fruit flavored wines and these were fantastic.
I started out with a bad experience in the distillery sampling bar where I absolutely could not get a bartender to take my money even after 20 minutes standing there with a completed sample list and cash sitting on the clip board. I understand first come first serve but if poeple were so indecisive as these individuals were, there was no reason that they couldn't served me and returned to them when ready. I was so upset that I almost headed to my car before seeing the rest of the building. The process of serving people absolutely needs to be changed!
I was so disgusted that I headed toward the front door and at the last second, decided to see what else was being offered. I enjoyed the company of a super hard working bartender, which I dont remember her name but she was definitely a multitasker unlike the two ladies in the distillery area. She handled at least a dozen peoples orders and was able to keep track in her head how many each person had taste tested and what kind. Between the bartenders actions and the amazing array of other things to discover, my image of Door Peninsula was restored before I left the building. I really wanted to purchase something from the distillery but...
Read moreProbably the most pretentious and rude winery I've ever had the misfortune of visiting.
The first time I came here last year it was busy and the service was ridiculously sub par. The staff that was pouring the wines for the tastings were rushing around and barely spoke to you. Considering the season, we came back just at the start of this year's summer opening to give the winery a second chance. We arrived just shortly after opening, so there was only one other couple browsing the wine selections and making their way to the tasting bar. We went to the counter and paid our fee (YES, FEE), and the woman serving the wine simply asked 'what do you want?' That was the first strike. After that, she continued to be rude and inattentive, barely spoke to us about any of the wines, offered no knowledge about them or their flavors or how they were made, second strike. Half of the bar broke down due to some tank of some kind needing to be replaced. By the time we got to our 3rd glass, we were ready to leave. There was nothing friendly or welcoming about this winery at all, with sub-par wines and a staff that couldn't care less if you showed up or not. This winery has failed twice, and I'm not giving it a third try. There are plenty of other amazing wineries in the Door County area that will treat you ten times better and have an even better selection of wines to chose from.
Avoid this place if you want a good experience. It's not worth the time,...
