We stopped in on our way home on Sunday after the holiday weekend. Didnāt want to do a taste testing as the couple we were with had been there many times and know the wines. First disappointment was that you can no longer purchase a glass of wine but rather have to buy an entire bottle. We each did and sat down to enjoy it while we chatted. My husband and I bought their most popular red wine with a āsecret ingredientā. From my very first sip I thought it tasted very carbonated, more like a spritzer and not much flavor. The four of us have made our own wine for many years and do know about the processing, etc. We brought this to the attention of the young girls working at the winery and asked for a tasting sample to compare. The differences in the taste from what we bought and sampled tells us it wasnāt stabilized properly before bottling. The ātastingā sample was far different than the bottle we purchased. It was very flavorful, heavier, and smooth. We mentioned this to the girls and one said that she was the āone in chargeā for the day and asked what we wanted to do. We told her that the wine was not good at all and if she wanted to make it right she could. As we sat, an adult male came in and the one āin chargeā was obviously speaking to him about our disappointment and situation because they pointed in our direction. It appeared that he was the owner. He sat behind the counter to 5-10 minutes before getting up and leaving. Not another word was mentioned as we left - why would they as the bottles were already paid for. Extremely unimpressed with this place. They had a chance to do something about unhappy and repeat customers but instead ignored it. Not even a goodbye as we left. Wonāt be stopping...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAverage selection, poor staff, uncomfortable experience. We were greeted when we got inside, then you had the choice to buy from their selection or do a wine tasting. We did the wine tasting. 5 one oz. pours for $5. When sampling, we were given no help on deciding what wines to sample. Worker did not ask what types of wine we usually drink, to help us see which of their wines we may like. Worker made NO CONVERSATION at all during the entire time of our tasting. She just stood behind the bar. I wasn't even finished with a sample, and I was already being asked what wine off my list I wanted next. This made us feel pressured and rushed our experience. This went on the whole time we were there. Once we finished all 5 samples, we were asked if we wanted to purchase any bottles of wine. No questions were asked about how we liked the wines. If we didn't like one at all we weren't offered suggestions/given a different wine to try. All in all, staff is not friendly, staff does not know how to have conversations with customers, wine selection is small and very overpriced. The only good thing about this place was the band playing in the sitting area, and a clean...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really wanted to like this winery. We went to their Sturgeon Bay location a couple of times. We really enjoyed their dry reds & whites. When I walked and I said hi and the bartender didnāt say hi. He put a sample of Ompa Blue wine in front of me and it was so ungodly sweet that I could not drink it. Cough medicine from the 80s. It really tainted my taste buds for the samples tray I ordered. The rest of the wines were fine but not great. Mostly from other states in the US. We looked around and the things they sell in the store are so incredibly random, I did not understand what they were going for. They were completely dead and their shelves were half bare. Also, they were selling a fireball and another liquor? Weird. They have a beautiful location and a beautiful deck, but I was unsatisfied. I hope they figure out what they would like to go for because it was all over the map. Again, I really wanted to like this place. I had been to the other location, a couple of times, and enjoyed their wines then. I also read through the reviews and the main topic is the unfriendly staff. I know Door County summers can be hard but try to be friendly...
