My family and I were touring Door County when we decided to find a restaurant to eat lunch. We pulled out our phones and found that this restaurant was pretty near by. We arrived to find that the restaurant was completely empty and we were the only ones there. I was shocked since it was noon and a Sunday so most people would be eating lunch around this time. We ordered some sodas such as Mountain Dew and Pepsi. When the waitress finally brought them to our table, we found that they were all in cans at room temperature. They didn't even insist on bringing over a glass of ice. Next, we ordered our meal and sat patiently for our meal to come out. We thought that out meal would come out pretty fast since we were the only people there but we were wrong. When the meal FINALLY came out, we noticed that all our burgers were the size of a slider and the meat was about as thick as a pen. We finished our meal in about ten minutes, feeling as hungry as we were when we walked in the door. The waitress brought over the bill and the price was $47 for myself and my two brothers. Since the restaurant did not accept credit cards, we had to use the ATM they had there. I was outraged when I found out that I had to pay a $3 fee in order to use the ATM. Our bill came out to $50 for a meal that didn't even fill us up. We ended up eating a large dinner later that evening at about 4 pm. I strongly recommend not coming to...
Read moreI hate to have to leave a negative review for any restaurant, but if you're in the area and looking for a convenient place for lunch, you'll want to avoid the Roadhouse at all costs. We had been across the street at the Door Peninsula Winery and dropped into the Roadhouse for lunch. The food was passable, but the service was extremely slow - so slow that my wife kept saying we just needed to pay for our drinks and leave. It finally did arrive, a half hour to pull together fish and chips and a grilled chicken sandwich. I worked fast food back in my youth, so I know how long it takes to prep those dishes. The kicker came when it was time to pay our tab. The Roadhouse is cash only - no credit cards accepted. They have an onsite ATM that will nick you for a $3 service fee. After the slow service, and the fact that the "cash only" policy is not posted at the entrance, I withdrew $40 to pay our $37 tab. I put the two twenties on the bar. I figure the bar is making money off the ATM, so the ATM fee can come out of my tip, rather than my pocket. As I walked out I heard the waitress remark, "Oh, that's bullst!". What's bullst is running a business with predatory practices like this. They deserve every bad review...
Read moreThree of us walked over to the Roadhouse after some wine tasting across the street. The bar is small in there so in order for the three of us to fit I had to angle my bar stool at the corner. I was told I couldn’t sit there because she needed to get to the dining area, which had no customers btw. I said there was room for her to get thru and she rudely said just don’t get in my way. A moment later two people showed up and she purposely ran into my stool to exaggerate how it was such a bother. Linda aka Karen is about 5 inches wide from what I assume is from previous or current crack addiction. She must have shared this with the burly guy from the kitchen because he then came out and said now that she has people I would have to move….and we did ,right out the door. If you are not a local I suggest you stay away as Linda has a chip on her shoulder from the second you walk in…I wish I would have read more reviews before subjecting ourselves to the rudest bartender I’ve ever experienced. Good luck on your recovery, all of Carlsville must be...
