Last Friday, the 19th, we decided to take the kids to Seabreeze Amusement Park in Irondequoit, NY. Despite it being a busy day filled with daycare and school trips, the park never felt overwhelming. Compared to larger amusement parks like Darien Lake (part of Six Flags), Seabreeze offered a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.
Seabreeze Amusement Park has a rich history, having been established in 1879, making it one of the oldest amusement parks in the United States. It is family-owned and operated by the Norris family, who have been involved with Seabreeze for generations. Over the years, Seabreeze has evolved from a simple picnic grove to a full-fledged amusement park with a variety of rides and attractions.
We found a shady spot by the park benches on the grass under a large tree to set up our home base and have lunch. Later, we moved to a small patch of grass at the very bottom of the water park section. This new spot was perfect for all the kids, providing a nice location for cousins and friends to gather.
I went on two rides with my son Enzo: the Jack Rabbit and the Whirlwind. The Jack Rabbit, one of the oldest operating wooden roller coasters in the world, opened in 1920 and was a nostalgic thrill. The Whirlwind, a modern steel spinning roller coaster, provided a fun and entertaining experience. While these rides weren’t as intense as those at Darien Lake, the significantly shorter lines made up for it. We didn’t have to wait long to get on the rides, which was a huge plus. Seabreeze also features other notable attractions such as the Revolution 360, Screamin’ Eagle, Seabreeze Carousel, and the Bumper Cars. For younger kids, the Tadpole Hole and Bear Trax are perfect.
One of the best aspects of Seabreeze was the park’s manageable size. The kids had enough freedom to run around without us needing to hover over them constantly. At larger parks like Darien Lake, it’s easy for an 8-year-old to get lost, but Seabreeze’s layout made it easy to keep track of everyone. The cost of admission was very reasonable at $35 per ticket. We used a $5 off coupon, bringing the price down from $40. Additionally, Seabreeze allows visitors to bring their own cart, food, drinks, and snacks. This made the entire experience more affordable and convenient.
The park also offers a variety of entertainment and amenities. There are live shows, including magic performances and music, and plenty of dining options ranging from quick snacks to full meals. We noticed designated picnic areas where guests can bring their own food, which added to the convenience. Seabreeze hosts special events and themed celebrations during holidays and festive seasons, and offers packages for group events like school trips, corporate outings, and birthday parties.
Overall, Seabreeze had a lot of pros compared to Darien Lake. The shorter lines, manageable size, affordability, and family-friendly atmosphere made it a great place for a day out with young children. However, the rides weren’t as intense, and there were fewer attractions compared to larger parks. Despite these minor drawbacks, our day at Seabreeze Amusement Park was a wonderful experience. The kids had a blast, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the affordability made it an easy choice for a family outing. While it might not have the same level of intensity or variety as larger parks like Darien Lake, Seabreeze offers a charming and manageable option for families looking for a fun and...
Read moreWe originally decided to visit last week on a nice summer day then an hour into our trip it started down poring and it wouldn't stop. So we made the hard decision to leave without being able to do much. ( we live almost 2 hours away) When they asked us if we wanted to come back agin. We said yes! And we got a rain check to come back whenever before the season ended for free! We were all so happy and we finally came back today and we had a BLAST! We live closer to Daren lake but we all agreed we like seebreeze more. Free parking, Very nice workers, security all over and the bonus for us was you can bring in snacks and drinks and even a cooler! We did eat there one of the days and the food prices were not bad. $20 for 2 people. We also loved the waterpark! It was small but at the day got longer, people left and there were shorter lines. Speaking of lines, I think we only waited for as little at 15mins (for the bobsleds)! other than that, there was no line anywhere we went! We were able to hop back on if we wanted to go again! We spent about 4ish hours here and was able to do everything we wanted to and more! I wished I live closer because I would come here more often. We also took advantage of the Tuesday deals where seniors get in for free! My best advice for people visiting is, Get there right when they open at 11 OR at 4-5 ( a lot of people had left by then) Bring your own food and drinks! ( Security only checks coolers) If it's a hot day, the rides will be dead. Do them first then waterpark then go back if you want! Buy your tickets at the gate ( It is a little cheeper online but the lines to get in from ordering online was super long and we were able to purchase them right at the gate and get right in. It was about $40 for an adult but take advantage of the deals they have like senior Tuesdays!) Bring flip flops or sandles for the waterpark ( My feet hurt from walking around barefoot in the waterpark. I really regret it.) Lastly, visit on a WEEKDAY. Mondays- Thursdays were the best days for shorter lines and less people. Plus it might get full by the time you get there on...
Read moreIf you are looking for an enjoyable way to spend your day, this is it! While Seabreeze may not be the biggest amusement park around, in my opinion it is by far the BEST! For starters, during our visits so far, the entire park has been immaculately clean and well maintained. When the park is open, all rides and attractions are open! All of the staff have been friendly and full of smiles. The park grounds are extremely well maintained (paint is fresh, clean, bright and colorful, gardening aestetics are beautiful, concrete and asphalt very clean and smooth, garbage areas are never overflowing or stinky when you pass by them, etc.) The waterpark is really nice and there is a lot of space to move around, even when the park is busy. Also, we have noticed that so far, ALL of the patrons we have encountered on our visits have been courteous and their behavior really added to the nice family atmosphere (no loud foul language, no pot smoke, no line cutting, no pushing/shoving, etc) overall, Seabreeze just seems to draw a very nice crowd of decent and respectable people. In regards to Military Members, Seabreeze goes above and beyond to treat both Active Duty Military and Veterans VERY WELL (FREE ADMISSION ALWAYS for all current and past Military members with proper ID) WOW, talk about being a PATRIOTIC BUSINESS 🇺🇸🎆🇺🇸🎆🇺🇸🎆!!! Another great thing about Seabreeze is the overall level of comfort provided within the park. There are lots of clean, comfortable picnic tables where you can sit, relax and dine (they even have tables meant for those who bring their own food which is really nice for families on a tight budget) Overall, it is evident that this park is not owned by some corporate conglomerate....you can easily see that much of the money made by the park is reinvested into maintaining the high standards of the park. Truly an HISTORICAL GEM in our community! I could go on and on, listing all of the wonderful things about Seabreeze, but you really should just go and see for yourself. I HIGHLY...
