Next Generation Comics & Cards — Attraction in Town of Islip

I am beyond disgusted by the customer service and temperament that I just received from (Dan)!! Please read below to caution yourself prior to going to this shop.

To begin, I called the store this morning wanting to potentially sell a few collectible figures. Dan, one of the owners answered the phone, and had a rude attitude, and said to me “I don’t make offers over the phone.” So, my friend Melvin and I went to the shop to speak to him regarding my desire to potentially sell these figures.

From when I walked in he continued to have a rude, unfriendly, unprofessional, and arrogant temperament the whole time (not even greeting us when we walked in). He rudely said that he doesn’t make offers on anything unless the items are physically in the store, which I can understand (not him being rude, but wanting to see the figures).

However, I suggested a reasonable solution to show him pictures of the figures and if he were interested to make an offer assuming everything is in perfect condition (which they are), and if they looked different than in the pictures the deal would be off. Accordingly, I expressed that it would be an inconvenience to drive to my house to get the figures and bring them to his shop for us to “potentially” make a deal not knowing what he would be willing to pay for them. Moreover, I don’t see how what I suggested is any different from when you purchase items online? Clearly, he was just being difficult, unfriendly, and BEYOND RUDE!

In my opinion, when you own any business you should make every attempt to cater to your customer's needs and make the customer happy.

Furthermore, I expressed my frustration to him because I’ve had nothing but positive dealings with his business partner Mike (who knows how to treat customers), and told him Mike never gave me a problem about not having the figures present when quoting me prices.

I’m not a comic book collector or fan, but I went in with my boyfriend who is. The place is beautifully organized, well stocked, and the staff is very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. One of the employees, John, was very friendly and spoke to us at length about the different books, covers, etc. We even spoke about the new Superman movie. Great guy! You can tell the owner really cares about his store.

Typically when I go with my BF to a comic store I’m ready to leave in three minutes (it’s just not my thing). I was there for nearly an hour and a half today and enjoyed myself, and that was because of John. That’s not including the hour we were there the day before as our first time.

Firstly, this store is still open and operating at 77A Carleton Avenue in Islip Terrace NY. They recently moved locations and opened a wonderful retail location with an expansive selection of comics, collectible card games and many other collectors items such as statues, action figures, books etc. This store is like a second home to many players, and I myself truly enjoy the company of both the employees and players at Next Generation Comics and Cards. They have amazing prices, friendly staff and a clean store.
