B T Express Deli & Cafe — Restaurant in Town of Islip

Have you EVER been given the end piece when ordering a breakfast sandwich on white, lightly toasted bread. DISRESPECTFUL! It was my first time going to this deli. While in there I was like it’s so clean and spacious and has good selections around the deli with a separate area of about 12 tables on the side for eating in. NICE. I’m rushing to a birthday party for my daughter’s friend 2 towns away. Get there and go back to my car to enjoy my sandwich and see this. Smdh. Am I overreacting on this $7.50 egg whites with bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato sandwich? I don’t like bread ends and don’t eat sandwiches on bagels or rolls so that I can have the inside of the bread and she gives me the damn butt of the bread. If that was the last piece then say so. Give me an option. I would have chose a slice of the wheat bread i or something else. It could have been a good sandwich but first impressions are lasting. This was my go to spot for a minute, even with the old owners. Today faced some clean cut discrimination from one of the kitchen staff.

She’s a new face and even upon entering the store she blatantly ignored me, mad eye contact and continued to do things behind the counter, not once acknowledging me until I went towards the exit. Which I was then met with “excuse me…” rather than “how can I help you”.

At first I thought I was overthinking, than even during order taking she was agitated when we didn’t even talk yet. However, before ignoring me she was super personable and friendly with previous customers who didn’t look like me. The new owner has been nice to me and even made my breakfast several times, however the new staff person with the black hair may get him in hot water for his lack of professionalism and blatant mistreatment.

And she overcharged me for food I normally get under $20 so that alone was a red flag. I just have now decided...

Hurt because this spot was my childhood favorite. I ordered off of Uber eats today and my entire order was incorrect. The sandwich and wings I ordered was fine tolerable but my should’ve been potato salad ended up being macaroni, paid 15$ for a salad adding extra grilled chicken didn’t get any chicken, wrong dressing I couldn’t eat my food because half of it contained stuff my picky daughter and I couldn’t eat, and to add the cherry to the cake my macaroni salad had a Brillo pad wire in it.
