Unbelievable, how great this trail is. Starting at whirlpool state park, all the way to the steps of the devil's hole. Can easily be a couple of miles, and that's just the path. I have no idea, how many steps are actually leading down to the river. I can tell you though, if your not in shape. Coming back up, you will wish you stayed up top. I had to take 4-5 breaks, and I was 5 more steps from ending it all. Lol come for the trails, and the sights. There is a section where you can grill, and picnic. As of June 2022 the stairs at whirlpool are closed due to construction, but they are open at Devils hole. One of the best hikes in western New York. The ground was dry so we felt safe taking our kids, but there are some narrow sections. The water is beautiful, but this is not a swimming area unless you have a death wish and want to make the news for notorious reasons.    Read moreThis was a great way to experience Niagara. Park in the parking lot (no fee), walk to the fence and there’s a path, follow it to the right. It will take you to the stairs will that go all the way from the top to the bottom, which leads to a path along the river. It’s a lot of stairs and is fine going down, but it takes a little effort to get back up them.
