2011 I purchased a Jeep Compass, I went to Automotive Audio for a remote starter, they installed it and away I went, my husband purchased a plow from them, my sister had a remote starter put in her car with no problems.
In June 2014 I had errands to run and while I was at my bank in Middletown with my 12 year old nephew, my brakes became very hard and the pedal dropped to the floor, I was able to move out of the drive in and I tried to head home to Montgomery, I got onto Rte. 211 and proceeded but my car would not go over 20 mph so I immediately pulled over into the Mobil station, I popped my hood and got out to open the hood and it was so hot I could not touch it, at that point I called for roadside assistance and then called the car dealer to let them know that the car was going to be brought in on a flat bed.
The next day the car dealer calls me they looked over the entire car and found nothing wrong with the vehicle except that the remote starter that was installed broke off the floor board and triggered my brake switch which locked my brakes up, so when I went to pick my vehicle up I had the mechanic come out to my car and I took a video of him explaining what went wrong with the vehicle, they indicated to me that I was lucky that my car did not catch on fire.
With that being said I immediately called Automotive Audio and spoke with Clay to inform him of what had happened and he said it was impossible, that someone must of tampered with it, I told him absolutely not, I drive the car everyday and never has anyone ever tampered with it, my understanding is that most of these units go into the steering column not on the floor board, I proceeded to tell him that is was poor installation and they need to make good on this and they refused to, after telling them I was going to take them to court, they agreed to put a new unit in. After a few weeks I decided to trade the vehicle in for a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, I immediately called Clay and told him that I was trading the vehicle in and he had agreed to put the new unit in to my new car, when it came time to do this the manufacturer they use has not tested the unit on this particular vehicle, this has been going on now for 1 1/2 years and still no remote starter in my car, then my sister's key ring starter died and we could not open up the unit to change the battery, I drove out to the store and spoke w/Clay and asked him to if he can please open the unit so WE can change the batteries in it, he wanted me to leave it with him and come back at 4:00, I told him that I was unable to do that, he got very nasty with me, started throwing things around his garage, I again asked him it's just to open up the key remote, he said I'm busy I can't, your going to have to leave it.
After much stress from Clay, I told him that I would never refer anyone to them again, I proceeded to tell him that I wanted a refund on my remote starter and he told me absolutely not!!!! At that point I indicated to him that I will be taking them to court and left.
Two days later, I received a phone call from Clay asking me If I would accept 1/2 payment of $150, after I thought about I accepted the offer just so I don't have to deal with them again. Today 10/29/2015 I had a remote starter put into my car from a different place with no problems at all.
All I can say is Automotive Audio is a very difficult place to deal with and they have no customer service skills what so ever. Word to the wise, please shop around before considering them to put any thing in to your vehicle.
Clay is a very rude person with no people skills at all, I am very lucky that my car did not...
Read moreIf there was an option to give ZERO stars, I would. Had an appointment to get a starter installed. Owner promised completion by 2pm for school pickup. My wife called the day before to confirm that 2:00 was still good, and the guy gave his word, no problem. My wife got a ride and showed up at 1:50 to get the car. Owner says "Your car isn't done yet". My wife says "Oh, well I have a few minutes, is it almost done?" To which he replies "I didn't even start it." My wife says "What? It's not started yet? Why didn't you call me?" He says "I'm very busy. I don't have time for phone calls." My wife called me and put me on speaker. He then says "I can start it now, I'll have it done by 5." My wife reminds him "We spoke twice about the fact that I needed the car for school pickup. My daughter gets out of school in 10 minutes and because you didn't call me, I didn't make other arrangements." He shrugs and says "I'm only human, I don't know what you want from me." ???? I said "What we wanted was a car starter installed!" My wife said "This is ridiculous, just give me back the car, I have to go." And he says "It's blocked in, you'll have to wait." My wife went outside and asked a worker to please move a vehicle so that she could leave. I went back the next day and demanded our money back. Not once did this guy apologize, he was rude, strange and the whole thing was insane....
Read moreIf i can give a zero, I would. I came in just to program an aftermarket android tab car radio. Kenny worked on it with no problem, the labor cost was $125. Ok, I was fine with it. Kenny informed me that an aftermarket back up camera and a harness adapter is needed to complete the job. I purchased the items and return to the shop. They gave me an appointment for 8 am. I had to call at 2 pm to see if the car was ready. I go and pick up the car and charged for $291.00 and the back up camera was mounted all you car see is ground. Clay answered me with the attitude that if you buy sht you get sht. Clay also try to charge me $95 for a license plate camera, I felt that he was being greedy for money. The item can be bought from ebay for $20. Kenny, the employee, tries to make this situation right. What I don't get is why must they keep your car for 6 hours or more, instead of being honest and say that they can do your car at a certain time or day. This would not inconvenience the customer. I guess I would finish the job myself. Buyer beware, don't assume that Clay has your back. The best part of this experience was dealing with Kenny, what...
