Store has gone downhill. Incremental price increases are making it more expensive by the day to shop here. Examples cottage cheese $2.29 to $2.50, Peanut butter $1.89 to $1.99. Just a couple. It may look like a little bit of money but adds up over time. I shop here sometimes twice a week and at least every week something goes up in price. Prices are more on par with other local supermarkets such as Wegmans and Walmart and there's very little difference between prices now. I have compared prices extensively between the 3 most popular Niagara Falls supermarkets.
Self checkout does not take cash if you are a cash customer. There is only one staffed checkout lane and the single front end cashier is now expected to man all the self checkouts and ring the long line of customers at the same time which means you will be waiting longer if you are paying cash. The cashier snapped at me this week for no reason and I have never had that happen at Aldi before but I can see why. Before there were 4 checkout lanes and each employee was sitting at their own checkout station and it was very peaceful. Now the front end checkout is like chaos and the single cashier has to respond to VERY LOUD ringing from their station which rings constantly while you are waiting in line and right in the cashier's ear (and mine as well while I am checking out). Plus they have to jump up to manage the self checkouts every other customer that is in line.
Lately this store has had so many out of stock items its not even funny and I can barely get what I need to eat...
Read moreAbout 1 month ago I went in and had used the self checkout. After I finished paying and was about to pack up my groceries at the counter a person named Sam started yelling " sir sir" the checkout area was packed with people. I went over to her and she said " you checked out like a ninja" I pointed to the self checkout that I used and she said " don't give me an attitude". She began to accuse me of theft. I handed her my receipt and she went through my groceries. She handed it back and gave a rational that they are a high theft store. When I asked her to leave me alone she continued to say the same thing and I responded as calmly as possible that she embarrassed me and she could have been more concise in how she did this. She refused to leave me alone. I had called their corporate store and said that the way this was handled was quite uneducated and embarrassing.
I went back to the store today and luckily the store manager Shawna was there as sam was at the front register. Shawna was willing to watch me checkout at the self chrckout kiosk and to make sure sam did not act this way again.
Let me say I get that theft occurs but there are better ways of acting to not cause others embarrassment and undue burden for a small section of their...
Read moreI always go to aldis, but today was a different experience. i usually get in and get out, as fast as i possibly can as the store can get very overwhelming very quickly. today i had a gift card and didn’t realize i couldnt use it at self checkout until i had asked an employee. she told me to tell the employee at the check out and that she would assist me. the woman at the checkout was cashing out other customers so i had panicked, not knowing whether to interrupt or to just wait. i just stood there for a good 30 seconds waiting for the right opportunity, and the previous woman whom i had asked about the gift card got upset with me and raised her voice. it was super embarrassing and left me feeling completely flustered. i didnt mean to cause any stress to the employees, as i work in retail and understand wholeheartedly how upsetting and frustrating working in this area can be. but i also know there are better ways to handle a situation like this, and this wasn’t...
