This review is for people who has zero hiking experience(like me) and is your first time on a hiking trail. We drove from Brooklyn after 4th of july and it was a short 50 minute drive. The road was heaven as you get closer to the place. is like you are on air(if only the FDR drive back to BK was like this). Ok back to the review, assuming you are new, id suggest googling how to read trail signs. We didnt know wether to take a left or keep going straight about 5 minutes in, so we went to google lol. Therefore I will post a picture on this review so you can see what to expect and hopefully you can do the same and dont panic. Once you understand what the signs mean the trail will be easier than what it allready is. If you dont see a marking on the tree, look for one on the floor. We basically followed the markings with one square on it. That means you are on the right path. Im glad i did this for my first trail as it was very easy and pushed me to google "how to read trail marks". Id suggest you do the same :) in all, the trail takes you up(where you get a really cool viewing point. I regret not taking a picnic throw as it was a nice spot to sit and rest. Parking: we got there at about 10am and it was half empty, but, it is very small and only fits about 12 cars or so, so id suggest going early. We felt like we had the park for ourselves as we barely saw any people so no need to social distance or wear a mask(even though there is a sign for you to please wear one during covid-19. None of the poeple we encountered had one anyways. we ended up going to another park close by since the trail was very short and had lots of time left.(we wenr to rockland lake state park after. Really nice park, Huge park if you want to bbq or grill with a nice huge lake for you to jog or bike around. Hope you found this useful :)(on another note, if you are looking for a more immersed hike, this will prob wont be for You, but very nice for...
Read moreIf you're looking for a short, beginner-friendly hike with a rewarding view, Buttermilk Park is a great pick. The trail is easy to follow and offers a calm, peaceful walk that usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your pace.
The incline adds just enough challenge to feel like a workout without being too strenuous, and the view at the top makes it all worth it. On a clear day, it's a perfect spot to pause, take in the scenery, and snap a few photos.
And if you're lucky, you might stumble across the small waterfall hidden along the way itâs a nice little surprise that adds to the charm of the trail.
Whether youâre new to hiking or just looking for a quick nature escape, Buttermilk Park delivers a relaxing and...
Read moreGreat local park in an unexpected spot. Views of the Palisades Mall and the Blue Hill Plaza are impressing. Management in the winter is limited and trails may be muddy. Trails connect to those in Blauvelt State Park but are very hard. Trails within the park have moderate slopes and a lot of stairs. Going clockwise, there is a descent with a bunch of hairpin turns for 0.3 miles at the end. At the top of the cliff, there is a trail that you can take to Central Nyack. It is just a trail to some houses. You can park near the end of that trail for easier access to the views. The waterfall is intermittent and streams arenât...
