We are just back from a Patagonia Museum sponsored 3 day tour to the village of Mata Ortiz (famous for its incredible pottery) and near by World Heritage Site Paquime' archeological site and museum in the Casas Grandes region of Chihuahua, Mexico. The entire trip was amazing: both the sites we saw and the people who made it such a rich experience (the organizer, the historian/archeologist expert, the musician, the bus driver). They also do an annual trip to Binamachi, Sonora, Mexico. Highly recommended for those interested in learning more about...

This little museum is housed in a 104 year old elementary school high on a hill above the town. It's just the right size to spend an hour or so exploring the culture and history of a very important part of southern Arizona. If you're lucky, German Quiroga will be there and will share his vast personal knowledge of life in Patagonia. Not fancy but authentic and enriching....

I visited here for a light activity on a rest day while hiking the Arizona Trail. Museum highlights local events. Many of them are almost laughable because practically none of them would be newsworthy in a larger town. Overall, it is a quaint throwback to bygone times. Free...
