Our experience at the hotel was as follows. Before we made a booking, we spoke on the phone with someone from their staff that confirmed we needed to late checkout at 12pm. Our whole trip to Phoenicia was centered around a RailRoad experience that started at 830am and finished at 1030am. Given that we were looking for a place that allowed us to checkout at 12pm. Upon actual checkout, the receptionist was very adamant about us checking out at 11am.
We had come back from the fun RailRoad experience at 1048am and were “greeted” by the receptionist who basically told us that we have to checkout in 12 mins. I said that we spoke to someone who confirmed the 12pm checkout but she did not listen. She was not understanding of the fact that we had to take a shower and get ready and then leave. After some effort, the owner finally allowed us to checkout by 1130am. We ended up leaving our room at 1126am in a rush, and the motel by 1130am. Inspire of their next guests arriving at 3pm, the receptionist was adamant about us to checkout by 11am instead of 12pm. The sole reason for that is because the housekeeper needed to clean the room. The housekeeper needs 4 hours to clean a 600 sq ft room?! That was very surprising.
One nice thing they did was get us cupcakes since it was my wife’s birthday. But, we paid for it - $21 for 2 cupcakes. In my experience, usually hotels do such small things for free for their guests, especially if you’re paying $250/night for a minimalist setting in a Motel!! So, it was nice that they put in the physical effort of going and getting 2 cupcakes.
For $250/night, guests have some expectations for...
Read moreHad the most wonderful stay at The Graham & Co for my birthday. They are so caring and detailed, left me a signed note upon checking into the room which was so thoughtful and appreciated. I wish I would have booked sooner to grab the bungalow room but the Deluxe Single was perfect for two. Once you walk in, there was a nice kitchenette and living room separate from the bedroom.
The bathroom is a bit tight, there is only standing room for one person at a time and I wish there was a drying rod/string to hang out wet bathing suits. Not a big deal though, I saw some people drying their suits outside.
We visited in the summer and the pool was refreshing. They provide pool towels and floaties. I would love if they would add an ice machine, I felt bad having to ask the front desk to get me a new bucket every day.
I think a lot of the reviews were expecting more of a luxury stay because of the price however I feel like the photos online look just like the hotel in real life. The vibes are very rustic, campy and comfortable. Everything was super clean and tidy. I felt comfortable and had everything I needed. The staff were all so nice and I appreciated the ability to text them if I needed something. Lastly, if you are picky about pillows, I would either ask for more or...
Read moreI am lucky I lost signal right before closing on my booking. Took me about 20/25 minutes ringing a bell to get someone. I drove around and finally a man walking a dog found the front desk person and i drove back and ofcourse she finished her conversation, did not address me left me standing there, so i literally had to confurm if I was in the right reception room to rent a room. (I cant make that up). A storm was brewing, I was lost and just needed a room for the night plus who comes to catskills and not stop by Phoenicia. So initially after i asked her if i could rent a room she immediately said yeah they are 250$ a night and the way she said was unkindly and welcoming. I never asked for prices but i did tell her I was in the middle of booking a smaller room there right before I lost signal and she started to explain the setup of those room but why not offer it initially and just jump into prices. So she was unwelcoming and should work on her customer service that was 8/18 , I chose to give my money to a b&b in bear cove mountain Agnus was amazing ! Fyi I never made it past the front but location wise this hotel is ideal if your staying...
