Olsen's Nursery — Attraction in Town of Smithtown

Plants are good. Full stop. 5/25/25 went to buy some plants and during the usually enjoyable experience I had to tolerate a ‘supervisor’ berating the staff of High School boys doing their best to layout the products. This ‘supervisor’ spoke to these young men, who were visibly embarrassed, repeatedly in the same condescending manner. I had to address two of them and apologize for the way she was speaking to them. Had to tell them, they were doing a good job. I won’t go back— ever. that is not how you treat your staff. They never talked back, they were never disrespectful. Unacceptable. I've been here many times. Yesterday, I purchased a 3 ft. gorgeous perennial plant (less than $15). I love the fact that there's a farm/nursery right in my own neighborhood. The owners are cute, funny & nice people. Karen and Jackson assisted me. The place looked immaculate, brighter and prettier than ever before. From what I saw and the time that I spent there, I attribute the cleanliness to Karen. She's watering all the plants and working while talking to me for quite some time. We arrived about 10 minutes before closing. Two teenagers were staffing the nursery. They watched us walk in and after two minutes they went to the front of the nursery to turn the overhead sprinklers on as a way of telling us to leave. After running out and getting soaked and asking for the price of a plant, they gave us the price but said we couldn't buy it because they were closed. When we pointed out that it wasn't closing time they shrugged and said "well, we're closed, you can come back at 8 AM" tomorrow.
