#DCGourmet report from the Hamptons, Watermill, NY. The Green Thumb is a quaint roadside organic farm market, boasting a huge selection of local produce, including both their own, and select other local produce. Got a local watermelon from them today that was so fresh, it still had the dirt. Don’t worry, they have a nice place to wash produce.
Very impressed with the variety of produce, including several types of tomato and eggplant. The subtropical climate of eastern Long Island also makes veggies such as okra available, as it was today. They have HUGE sunflowers full of seeds for only $5. Lettuce season is upon us, and they have several types of plugs for you gardeners to plant just in time for fall.
Was pleasantly surprised by some of the prices. Potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant very well priced. Was a bit shocked at prices of peppers, at nearly $13/lb. That was a first.
There is a great play area for those of you with children....
