Disappointing Experience at Hank's Pumpkin Town as a mom of 5 kids under 9years old
I was really looking forward to our visit to Hank's Pumpkin Town, but unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations at all. We paid $22 for entry, which I expected would provide a fun and engaging experience for my kids. However, I was disappointed to find that none of the exhibits had staff present to assist or supervise the children. This lack of oversight made the experience feel chaotic and unwelcoming.
The trikes that were supposed to be a fun attraction were not working, some were missing only to be found in other parts of the farm where they didn’t belong probably because there is no staff to tell the kids not to leave the bike track with the bikes and it seemed like no effort was made to maintain them. To make matters worse, the duck races were a bust since there were no ducks left to race! I have 3 kids under 4 and they were really excited to race ducks, this was a total let down for them! By the way you can order 1,500 ducks on Amazon for $145 and who cares if someone walks off with one. Or make your own rubber ducks that come with the $22 entry fee so they have something to take home. It was very disappointing that there were no ducks left to race.
Additionally, the bubble station was out of bubbles, and there was no staff around to refill them, which left the kids feeling frustrated. We also decided to try apple picking, but for $33, we expected to find apples available. Unfortunately, there were barely any apples left to pick, which felt like a complete waste of money. There were other isles that had apples but they were roped off and not available for picking.
Overall, our visit was disappointing and not worth the cost. Also to be noted it says a lot for a local family to come to a local place and not see one other local family there! I hope they can improve their staffing and maintenance so future visitors can have a...
Read morePretty good place. They have a wheelbarrow so you can load up pumpkins. What I ended up doing was putting 3 pumpkins in the wheelbarrow and filled it up with other treats--pies, donuts, pumpkin bread, preserves, cider and honey. They had apple pie, cherry pie, blueberry pie, triple berry pie, strawberry rhubarb pie, and pumpkin pie. There may be more that I forgot. They had pumpkin bread, apple crumble bread, banana nut bread, banana chocolate chip bread, and zucchini bread. They had strawberry preserve, blueberry preserve, raspberry preserve, triple berry preserve, strawberry jam and a few syrups that I didn't really pay attention to. I, unfortunately, couldn't get their turnovers and fudge but the fudge looked good. I was a little confused on how to enter the orchard for the apple picking (literally the only flaw but I still got my hands on apples so I can't truly complain; also I have heard their apple orchard wasn't so great for picking since most were rotten on the ground; granted it could be because they need to pick a good portion to sell in $6 bags and there are enough people coming that the rest could have been picked. This all is supposition which doesn't change the fact that getting into the apple orchard wasn't clear). Too bad the golden delicious ans Granny Smith apples weren't ripe but I got a bag of empire apples...I can't truly be upset over that as tbey have different ripening times. It got expensive since I had to buy to distribute for a lot of people. I hope to come...
Read moreI have been taking my children here for about 12 years, at first it was the place to go for a great pumking picking family day. The bake goods a really good except for the pies which have declined taste wise over the years. The apple picking goes up in price and unless you get there early in the season you will be picking them off the floor. This year the experience was beyond unpleasant, it seems every year the staff diminishes and that is when problems start. While waiting to use the carts by the beehive attraction there was no staff there to keep the kids rotating so everyone gets a turn like in past years. So I was patiently waiting when someone skipped the line , I let him know there was a line and he got in my face and wanted to fight. Spoke with staff and they could care less. If the parents dont have manners imagine the kids. It is overcrowded but that's what happens when to enjoy all aspects of the farm you either go on a weekend or a official school holiday. I feel bad for parents of really small children they have to be careful with the bigger kids. The biggest turn off I noticed this year was they extended the fence to cover the whole right side of property, every year the fence moves I think by next year you would have to pay just to enter the whole farm. Entry to fenced in area is $18 for anyone who enters if you use the attractions or just watch your kids. This place has made its name and now its cashing in , I guess next year I'm going to have to find...
