My family and I have been long time customers of this store, and for years we were very happy with the service and quality of food here. However, there has been a noticeable decline over the last year, which I think is largely due to the fact that teenage employees seem to be running the show.
The other day, I purchased a container of Cedar's hummus. There was a sticker on the lid that was a coupon for $2 off the product, which I thought was an added bonus, so I got it. But when I got home, I realized that the sticker had been strategically placed over the expiration date, and the hummus was already expired. I HATE wasting food, but it had to go in the garbage. Unfortunately, I had already thrown out the receipt, so I wasn't able to return it. But when I brought it to the manager's attention the next time I was there, he shook his head and grumbled, "it's these kids."
Nothing has been done about this, though. Because it's still happening. Every single coupon sticker is placed on the package to conceal the expiration date. I just left the store ten minutes ago, and noticed the same thing with the very expensive $7 box of mixed greens. This is simply unacceptable.
Also, I over payed for a package of beef shank that had been mislabeled as flank steak. What should have cost me $4 ended up costing me $11. I didn't realize this mistake until I got home. While I understand that I should have been paying better attention to what I was grabbing, I also should be able to trust that the workers are doing their jobs properly. I've begun saving every receipt because I no longer trust that I am going to be charged fairly, or that the product is going to be good quality.
I've also brought home chicken that spoiled two hours later, and onions that, when sliced open, were rotted through to the center.
This is one of the most expensive grocery stores in the area. You'd think that management would care a little more. But like I said, I think this is largely due to teenage laziness and managers who are not training employees to provide good service. My dad has literally been handed his groceries without a bag before (not one item, MULTIPLE). He's a senior citizen and they just hand him all his items, like he can juggle them all the way out to the car.
This place needs to do better. One of the reasons we still shop here is because it is very close to our home, and is a conveniently short trip for us. But now, after throwing our money away multiple times, and experiencing such poor service, it is becoming less and...
Read moreThis review is for Linda in the floral department. I wish I could give Linda 100 stars. We were referred to Linda by several people to help with the flowers for our wedding on July 27. When we met with Linda, she demonstrated incredible knowledge of flowers and would rattle off flowers that I had never even heard of and could come up with perfect bouquets and designs just from mention of color. Her knowledge of flowers was absolutely mind blowing. She pre-wired flowers for us and made sure that all we had to do was pick up our flowers and everything was all set! The girls all loved their bouquets and everything about our flowers was awesome! Linda was truly committed to making sure that we had an incredible wedding, not just to sell us stuff that we didn’t need. Her tremendous knowledge was incredibly valuable, Because it made us feel like we could trust her with everything. Not only was Linda incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, but she also made our flowers incredibly affordable. I will recommend Linda to everyone I know that is getting married. I cannot speak more highly of her and her commitment to her craft....
Read moreGood variety, despite it's seemingly small size. This location carries a lot of specialized and certain brand items that may not be easily found elsewhere. It's location and crowded parking lot make this location a challenge to access and get out of, compounded by the shenanigans of their largely geriatric, non-driving customers and the intersection at which this store is located. Despite having to maneuver around the parking-impaired, this location has a pretty good variety in their selections. The fish and meat counters are very good, as is their produce section. Large selections of cheese and ethnic/international sections as well. Their cafe and service there are good as well, although a bit pricey. Their bakery items and bread are awesome and everything is fresh. I find that their employees are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The only down sides are that the store can get very crowded during peak times, getting in and out of the parking lot can test your patience during busy times, and the higher prices on a lot of...
