Do NOT take your phone in for repair at this shop. You'll give them a working phone that needs slight repair, they'll happily charge you, but then give you back a phone in worse condition, yet do nothing to help rectify THEIR error. You read correctly: they take NO responsibility for handing back to you a phone that is in an even worse condition than how you brought it in, and all due to THEIR mistake.
We took our phone to have it's rear camera lenses replaced, as the images were smudgy due to the lens cover having been cracked (not the lenses themselves, but the cover). First, they were unable to find and match it with a camera lens of the same color of the phone (they gave us back a gold camera lens casing when the phone is blue - we were willing to accept this first gaffe); secondly, and most importantly, when the phone was returned to us, the camera didn't work at ALL; thirdly, to make matters worse, the front facing camera, which was never broken in the first place, stopped working, too; fourthly, they then tried to blame the phone saying it had a pre-existing issue with the motherboard and they could do nothing about it, which was an outright lie! The phone was in perfect working condition except for the camera lenses needing to be replaced; Lastly, and most shockingly, they offered nothing, not even a refund, to try to rectify the situation and extremely unprofessional.
I insisted that they put the old lenses back, and he said that they wouldn't work due to the motherboard being damaged, but that he'd try it anyway. Lo and behold, when he put the old lenses back, the phone and camera worked just fine, as they used to, but of course with smudgy images. I, again, had to insist on a refund of our money, it was never offered. If I hadn't insisted on any of this, they would've let us go home with a non-working camera on our phone after having spent over $100 to have them "repair" it. They literally tried to give us back a worse phone after having paid them for their service and then tried to blame the phone when they failed at their job. Unbelievable! Their customer service is appalling as is, obviously, their tech...
Read moreWorst experience with a small business ever! I brought my HTC One M8 there for a screen replacement based on a friend's recommendation. The only reason I didn't do it myself is because I knew this phone was particularly difficult, best left to the pros. They assured me they could handle it, but it required more time hence the $200 price. Bottom line-the phone was out of commission for almost 2 months because they broke other things in the process. I finally pulled the plug and now have had to buy another phone. They said they would fix it, but felt I should be ok with them taking as long as they needed. They did refund the money I paid for the screen, but...It was returned to me with a non-functional microphone and ear speaker. The very short version: On the day I was supposed to pick it up they let me know they broke something and needed to order parts. They gave me a “loaner” that turned out to not work. I borrowed a phone from a friend and activated that in the meantime. About 10 days later they gave it to me stating it was fixed and all fine. The screen replacement was poorly done, it was no longer flush with the surrounding trim, but a very noticeable lip now existed, and not even. The GPS, microphone, and ear speaker no longer worked. That's when it went back to them again. I had to chase them for information every time. You would think in this situation they would give periodic updates. We filed a complaint with CPR's headquarters, but they were useless as well. I will try to post this review on their site, but as other's have stated it most likely won't show up there as they only post the most positive one's. Beware! Look at their reviews from their other stores as well. I'm guessing the “techs” are of questionable skill.
Update, they posted my review on their site, but turned it into 5 stars, they'll probably pull it soon. The 5 star must be automated-shady!
Update 2-yep, they pulled my review-at least I took a screen shot...
Read moreI went there to have a battery replaced in a Motorola Droid Turbo 2 (not a super-common phone but they had the battery in stock). I dealt primarily with two gentlemen and both were extremely pleasant and helpful. The gent who actually worked on my phone went out of his way to explain what was being done and updated me during the process and again explained the work that had been done. My phone is again fully functional and I am very pleased.
I should note that I had checked into a couple of other shops from Albany, NY to Wappingers, NY, and selected CPR because they gave reasonable time and price estimates. One shop said they could repair my phone in a half-hour (oh really?) and would get a battery off of eBay (!). I was pleased to learn that CPR actually deals with a couple of parts distributors for repair parts instead of buying the cheapest commodity parts available, and CPR just had a more professional manner than the other stores I had researched. I was actually pretty surprised at the amount of traffic in the store while I was waiting and how often they would give free advice to customers or help them contact a manufacturer for a warranty repair. CPR is clearly more interested in a good reputation and repeat business.
The only improvements I could suggest are: free WiFi for those who are waiting; the ability to leave the technician a tip on the credit card machine when checking out (I thought the dude who worked on my phone was excellent and well deserved a tip); a customer-accessible bathroom, although few people seemed to actually wait for their phone.
Overall a good experience and I would recommend to others. Rereading this it sound a little too gushing, but honestly, I could not have imagined a better outcome than the repair I had done there. It saved me both saving me...
