When I needed to go to urgent care, it was hard to find one because the reviews are pretty bad for almost all of them in the area. I tried to narrow it down by not paying attention to the reviews that were negative because of closing times, etc. I was really only interested in service, and this one had pretty decent reviews.
There is a sign by the road that says Urgent Care Now is in this building, but it's around the side. I had seen the red awning online, so I was confused when I pulled in and didn't see it. The sign right in front of the building by the sidewalk shows that it is to the left, but it's hard to see in your car.
The girl at the reception desk was nice. She had me fill out a form, and then I sat and waited. I was the only person there, so the wait did seem rather long. It was at least 15 minutes, and I kept trying to talk myself out of leaving, so I kept looking at the clock, lol.
A nurse came to get me like 15 minutes later, and she was nice. I told her everything that was going on, and she typed it all out. Watching her type it, I felt like I told her a lot!
She took me to a room, and again I waited for awhile. Since I was nervous, I couldn't concentrate on anything, so I didn't want to look at my phone or do the magic eye maze that was on the wall. The only thing I could think about was getting out of there. And the room was silent, with bright blue tiled floors. I guess that is a good thing because you don't want to hear other people, but it was really silent; no music or anything.
Much to my relief, when the doctor came, it was a woman. And from looking online later, I guess she is a PA rather than a Dr. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. I told her everything over again, she did some stuff, and then she left again. When she came back, she told me some of my options, and was concerned about the cost to me, which I thought was nice. Most doctors just order tests and tell you to get an MRI or whatever, and don't have any thought about what it will cost you. She at least realized that money was coming out of my pocket. And overall, I liked her. I liked how she spoke to me. She wasn't condescending or rude, which doctors so often are.
They were going to take my blood, and her and the nurse said I had "bad veins". This scared me even more, and really is not a good thing to tell a person when they're scared (even though I don't think they did it intentionally). So when I sat in the silent room again, I was sitting there scared about getting the blood taken. In the end, they recommended that I go to the lab in the same building. That is probably the best recommendation I ever got because the girl that took my blood there was absolutely wonderful!!! She did it quickly and easily, and almost painlessly! I reviewed it separately, and it was Rochester Regional Health Laboratories. I highly recommend going there!
So, I left that day and waited for my results. I had gone on a Friday and was trying to be patient. I assumed the weekends didn't count, so I waited all day Monday, and never got a call. On Tuesday I called, and they contacted the lab for me, and had a PA call me back. I'm not sure if it's the fault of the lab or of them, but since I'd gone to urgent care, I guess I thought they'd be a little more "urgent" getting back to me. It was a pretty urgent issue.
So, all that being said, I am probably more at a 3.5 rating. Considering I was the only person in the waiting room when I came and when I left, I think I was there a long time. And I was left in the room several times for more than a few minutes. The actual care I got that day was ok, but I didn't really leave with any resolution other than my blood tests, and they didn't get back to me about that right away, and it would have made a huge difference if they had. So, I would possibly come here again, but I would plan to be here about an hour and a half. And if you need any test results or follow up, I'd be sure to follow up yourself and not wait for them...
Read moreI’ve lived in Webster for 9 years and always preferred this urgent care to the others in the area. The last two times I’ve gone here my rapid tests have come back negative but the full lab run test has come back positive. About 6 months ago I went in and thought I had Covid or strep. Both rapid tests negative. When sent to lab, I actually ended up being positive Covid and the flu. Provider at that time didn’t think I had either, thought it was just a virus. Fast forward to this past week. I went in bc I had a feeling I had strep (I’ve had it multiple times over the last few years) and rapid test came back negative. Provider also said my glands didn’t feel swollen and that both of my ears looked fine, no wax build up (I also couldn’t hear out of my right ear and had so many issues as a child with ear infections and wax build up that I knew I had wax build up this time). The lab they use to send the swabs off to, took a day and a half (!!!!) to get me my results. And not only that but they didn’t even call me to tell me I was positive for strep, they emailed me which I hardly check my email and was not told this is how they’d contact me. At this point I had gone to work and probably infected my coworkers. So I called the urgent care asking if anyone was going to call me and who was going to send my script in for antibiotic. They said they hadn’t received the results from the lab yet and would have to call them to get it and then would call me back after they sent my script in. All of this took 2 hours. I ended up going to another urgent care and the provider there looked in my ear and confirmed I do in fact have a LARGE amount of wax build up in the ear I can’t heat out of. And she could tell by looking at my tongue and throat that I had strep. Soooo maybe someone needs to revisit clinicals?! Oh and i also always pay my copay at the time of visit and have been sent a bill in the mail twice saying I didn’t. So I wrote a check twice and then they called me and said it was a mistake that they billed me and that I had already paid the day of my visit. Won’t be...
Read moreI was there with my husband on a Sunday night, both with coughs. Its helpful that they are open 365 days/year and have later hours some nights than other urgent care centers. The receptionists were very friendly, helpful and welcoming, and the intake nurse- technician was thorough and went out of her way to make us comfortable. Unfortunately we weren't too thrilled with the medical assessment itself. It was very quick and few questions were asked. It felt like the conclusion of "you have coughs from a virus not from a bacteria, therefore not needing antibiotics" was almost predetermined before they came in the room. And who knows it very well may have been the right assessment. We were given steroids and one recommendation (for mucinex) and to come back if not better. My husband got progressively much worse over the next three days and saw Primary Care. The exam was so much more thorough, and the testing included Covid, Flu A, Flu B, RSV. Based on a thorough assessment of his symptoms he was diagnosed with a very bad case of bronchitis and started antibiotics. Ive worked in health care x 35 years. I know people's status can change rapidly, so I'm not saying a diagnosis was for sure missed. I just would have been much more confident knowing there'd been a more thorough assessment. But the main reason for the three stars is the lack of any paperwork or any education whatsoever, such as how to treat this at home or what to watch for. Specifically there is absolutely no write up about the visit or diagnosis given when you leave there. All the other urgent cares and emergency rooms are doing this. It shouldn't be hard to find a program that makes it easy to provide, and I personally think it would make a huge difference in the overall experience and benefit of going there. With all other things being equal why would you choose that Urgent Care over one of the others that does offer a summary, a diagnosis, a list of the recommended meds...
