American Muay Thai & American Boxing Academy — Attraction in Towson

My 3 kids had the blessing to find this gym a year ago, coaches are kind, respectful, supportive and most of all, they are mentors! The gym splits in 2, “red area” striking and “black area” bjj, every time I saw the doggies they are on the striking area, and truly as a dog lover I’ve never ever seen these furry friends bothering any of the kids, in fact, the kids love them, pet them and take care of them. This is a pet friendly place and as soon as you get in you can tell so if you don’t like pets I feel won’t be a good fit for you. The “aggressive/massive pit bull” is a sweet boy, he will just walk around and be with the kids as a supportive dog which in fact many studies proved that they can be more effective to motivate kids than the parents who sometimes will sit there and without paying attention to their kids while training. The bathrooms are always clean, they have notes for the kids in order to keep them clean as well, the floors are clean, people sweat yes but is a gym, and gets disinfected properly. I’ve belong to CrossFit where pets and customers kids are around and everyone trains as usual, is just a big family, AMT do same here. The bjj area is always clean, they have a little vendors table with great products too, benches are clean, mat is clean but most importantly kids are safe and they are having fun with these great coaches which btw use the last 5 minutes of class to make the kids play or even talk about bullies and how to defense themselves or the little ones. I have no more than kind words...

I absolutely love this fighting gym! My hubby and kids come here! Very much a family oriented gym. Classes for all ages. If you're a loner even better. IT DOESN'T MATTER! Just like Jesse uses the quote from Johnny Lawrence (Cobra Kai) " Everybody's welcome whether your a freak a nerd. It doesn't matter everybody needs to get tough".

Obviously I love what this place has done for my family. Has helped with confidence tremendously. Especially being bullied regardless of school,work, this world is getting crazier and crazier by the day. Really, compared to other places the price is reasonable and fair. UNLIMITED CLASSES!!! Great coaches, helpers... Take the time to actually recognize you, your form. They care to teach!!! The kids class is one of the cutest things you'll ever see. Mom approved. We were invited by a friend to try out American Muay Thai. They do 5 free lessons so what did we have to lose? My daughter came just to observe but right from the beginning Jessie invited her to join in. She is shy but Jessie is such a great person that she jumped right in. He spent the whole class teaching her the essential footwork and basic moves. She was hooked. The kids are so welcoming she would come just for all her new friends but the fact she is learning a discipline that will help protect her and give her confidence is all a Dad needs. We are a few weeks in now and she loves it and is improving. Stephen and Katrina do a great job coaching everyone from the newbies to some kids that are very skilled.
