Epic hike through Grundy Forest State Natural area. Today, the weather was perfect and the trail was not crowded at all. We only saw two other people while in the parking area, and not a soul on the trail itself. Trail is marked with easy to follow blazes and well maintained. Path does have a lot of roots and rocks to navigate so be sure and wear sturdy shoes. Water was flowing today and the waterfall was gorgeous. Huge rock formations to look at and massive trees which must be at least 100+ years old. Would definitely do this...
Read moreThis is a beautiful forest and acess point. Lots of step bluffs and rocky area hiking. Not for toddlers. I would take children 5 and up personally that listen well. There are like 13 miles of trails that connect. I got caught in gully washer 2.5 miles. Was sketchy and dangerous coming out for me. Waterproof pack back, water, snacks, towel, first aid a must, a hat, to cover your glasses if pouring rain. Oh and good shoes. Lots of great clear swimming holes down threw here. Read moreHiked a loop including sycamore falls labor day weekend. Absolutely loved the hike with the creek and all of the flowing water/pools and the falls were gorgeous. Truly picture perfect. We got lucky and parked in the free lot but looked to be plenty of paid parking as well before the parking lot.
