Brought my first timer dog to the dog park today! Very good experience, lots of shade for owners. Only thing I would change is how much water there is. They have this great, low set, always running water fountain that my dog likes but it's kind of far away from human seating areas, and I had to walk my dog over there when I saw him start to overly pant. There's also full buckets everywhere and 3 kiddie pools full of water but my dog is picky and likes the running water. All the dogs were friendly and cute, and I didn't see any discrimination against my dog which is what I'm scared of (he has cropped ears and a pit face so if anything happens it's all over for him compared to a lab, for example) but both the people and dogs were kind to him and he had a fun time. Since he liked it, hoping to make it an every Sunday...

Iāve taken my well socialized pups to dog parks all over the US and have never had any issues until I got here.
Owners are unpredictably negligent. During our first two visits, I saw dogs who were continually crossing clear boundaries with other dogs and causing issues whose owners who would shout at, hit, kick, and yank them around by their collar instead of removing them from the park and providing appropriate discipline/training.
Our third trip there, tonight, resulted in my oldest pup getting bit because she wouldnāt submit (tried to squirm away from) to another dogs mount. Dogs with this kind of behavior need appropriate attention and training before being allowed to freely interact with other dogs.
I love the park grounds but I no longer feel...

The park is divided into two fenced off grassy areas with picnic tables and benches under covered roofs for some sun protection. Most people bring a pile of tennis balls to throw across the fields for dogs to fetch and bring back chewed on and wet from dog spit...There is also a plastic kiddies pool under a spigot for dogs to drink, and flop in when over heated...One also meets mostly the same same folks and same dogs on any given afternoon so it is very neighborly...A lot like extended family, when you throw...
