I drove down to Tupelo because my mother died and I got diagnosed with cancer and I just needed to get away. I'm not a religious person and I never go to church or pray. I went into Elvis' chapel and sat and prayed for the first time in my life. Some woman came in and glared at me and then went in the bathroom and peed loud for minutes and then came out and told me it closed at four o'clock and I had to leave. It was 3:45. And I was obviously in prayer. You have no idea what you did lady. I was praying for life. I was praying for my life. I was praying for forgiveness and redemption. I was praying for many more years so that I could help suffering people and animals and turn my Soul and heart around. I was praying to bring beauty and light back into my Heart and soul to shine on the world before I died. That won't be happening now because of you. You need to be fired. And i'm sure I will see you in hell now. And I'm sure I will see you in hell now.. You have no idea what I have done in the past. Couple months that I needed to pray. My mother died because of me. I was sitting there with hospital bracelets on because I had lungs surgery two days ago and I drove down here to try to get away and pray for redemption and that is what I got at elvis birthplace. Again, I will see you in hell because you did not let me fiinish my prayer for the first time in my life. You are just as evil as I have been and I hope you have no shot at...
Read moreVisiting the Elvis Presley Birthplace in Tupelo is a truly moving experience, whether you’re a die-hard Elvis fan or just curious about American music history. The site is beautifully maintained and offers a deep, personal insight into the humble beginnings of one of the world’s greatest musical icons.
The centerpiece of the attraction is the small, two-room house where Elvis was born in 1935. It’s modest but powerful — standing in the room where it all began gives you a profound appreciation for how far he came. The surrounding museum and chapel add layers to the story, showcasing his early influences, gospel roots, and personal journey.
The grounds also include the Assembly of God Church Elvis attended as a child, relocated to the site and restored to reflect the era. Inside, a multimedia presentation recreates a 1940s worship service, complete with Elvis’s early gospel inspirations.
Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the gift shop has a great selection of memorabilia. It’s not a large complex, but it’s thoughtfully curated and emotionally resonant. A walk through the park, past statues of young and adult Elvis, offers a nice reflective ending to the visit.
Tip: Go early in the day to beat the crowds, and take your time reading the interpretive signs. It’s more than just a birthplace — it’s a journey through the roots of...
Read moreWe ended up here on "fan appreciation day" so I don't know if it's always as crowded but be prepared for parking issues. When we arrived the lot was full but luckily someone was leaving. It looks like they have auxiliary places to park and a cold cart shuttle so it might not be too bad.
Not very handicapped accessible without help as there are no automated doors and no push buttons. There are ramps to get everywhere but trying to get in and out of the museum is difficult cause the doors are pull toward you and not push.
Besides those two little things it was a great place to see some fun memorabilia, Elvis history, and hear locals playing music in the yard. The souvenir store is not overpriced which was a great relief after visiting Disney World! I mean we got a hip swinging clock for only $25! Attraction tickets were alright. If we went again I think I'd only pay for one attraction, the museum. The house is 300 sq ft so there isn't much to see and the church service didn't interest us. If you're like me and just like taking pictures of the outside of the homes and don't need in depth I think those could be skipped.
I would also recommend a stop at Johnnies drive in after right down the street. However, they do get busy and they have a small parking area so keep...
