This National Park is really cool. There are underwater markers along the reef near the island that are really fun to follow and read and check out. They give you a little information about the habitat. My son and I snorkeled around the island. That was amazing! And of course up and down the beach. We saw a ton of fish stingray all kinds of cool stuff. It wasn't terribly busy. Did have some cruise people come and go. Chair rentals were $15. They do take your ID and give it back to you when you return the chairs. They're conveniently is a little shop for food, drinks, ice cream and souvenirs. They have a bath house and toilets. You can't go wrong with the Caribbean waters. This location does not serve you. You have to go get your own food and drink.

This was the BEST snorkeling on St. John to see fish and coral. The island is a nice short distance from shore - much closer than the island off of Cinnamon Bay. Halfway between the beach and the island is a shallow reef, about 10 feet down. Here there were a TON of fish! There were so many Yellowtail Snappers, which were so friendly and would get so close! Super cool and fun, especially for new snorkelers or children. We did see a Barracuda cruising through, which was a little scary but very cool as well.

I wasn’t sure if I should make the trip when my cruise line docked in St. Thomas. After much research & planning.. we did the cab to the ferry, then cab to beach & made it back in time for the ship. Food isn’t cheap at the beach, but the water & sand is amazing!!! So glad we went! If you do buy the $8 hot dogs... DONOT eat them by the beach. We saw the birds dive bomb & eat the hot dog while a kid was holding close to mouth!!!

I'm literally now spoiled. I feel I can never go to another beach as long as I live. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! Pictures can never do this place justice. The gorgeous white sand, the super clear water, and the pretty blues... seriously this is like a beach out of the movies. When people picture island vacations and beaches, this is definitely the place they are thinking of. I did not go snorkeling here, but I do know there is a reef trail. I didn't go because it would have been my first time snorkeling, and while I know how to swim, it was too much for me to do on my own. I simply needed a noodle to help me and we didn't have one (we didn't even think to check the rental place for one either). There is a rental place. One person in our party rented a snorkel set, which was cheap to rent but they wanted a crazy large down payment (I think $5 to rent and a $20 down payment) which you obviously got the $20 back when you returned them. Also a place to get drinks and a food truck (obviously we had some painkillers from here). I believe the only beach on St. John that we went to that charged us a small fee per person to get in. However, definitely worth it for the experience. This place was definitely the closest I may get...

The beach and the water is phenomenal. Great snorkeling around the small island as well. George on the rental equipment side is very nice and helpful. Be careful about the safety vest though. Some of them deflate and have a problem. Me and my wife found ourself with deflated vests in the middle of the ocean more than once. We had to go back and exchange them but I am pretty sure that the vests were put back in use. This makes it pretty risky for first time snorkelers who need a vest to build some confidence in the first place. So be careful and test equipment in shallow waters first. Also some masks will keep getting water inside (more than usual); so either learn to rinse in the middle of ocean or get it replaced if it happens too frequently. Our replacements masks were fine but the ones we got first up were...
