Trunk is my favorite beach in the world. We love coming here when we visit St. John. The beach is GORGEOUS — white sand, turquoise blue water, no rocks, lots of sunshine… what more could you ask for?
Entrance fee is $5 and there are bathrooms, showers, a snack bar, bar, retail and rental (you can rent things like chairs and snorkel gear, for example).
Get here EARLY to get a good spot on the beach (and a parking space if you’ll be driving). It is very popular and fills up as the morning goes on. It’s only 2.5 miles from Cruz Bay so quick to get to in a taxi.
Snorkeling is wonderful at Trunk and there’s an underwater snorkeling trail to guide you. Lots of beautiful coral and fish to see. On our latest trip we didn’t see turtles, but in years past we’ve seen them while snorkeling at Trunk.
There’s a reason why Trunk Bay is one of the best beaches in the world. If you are lucky enough to visit here be sure to do so. You will LOVE it as...

Chair rentals are $10/chair and snorkeling equipment, and must be promptly returned by 4pm. The restrooms and vendors close shop by 4pm as the beaches are maintained by National Park Service. The beach remains open after 4pm, but you just won't be able to use the restroom! The restrooms have showers and foot baths to rinse off stand.
While touristy flock to the beach, it surprisingly isn't that crowded. The beach is a bit of walk with a short flight of stairs from the parking lot. It's not handicap accessible.
The water is shallow and the beach is pretty clean. While I enjoyed the beach, I would explore neighboring Maho and Cinnamon Beaches next time, that also offer chair rentals, but no...

Unfortunately for us on the day we visited they decided to close the showers down early which was disappointing so mother nature sent us a warm rain shower instead which was magical! Great snorkeling here around the cay and to the right near the rocks where large shoals of minnows spawn attracting predators and larger fish. We were fascinated watching the brown pelicans dive bomb the little schools of fish over and over. We also spotted a stingray, giant tarpon, and...
