As someone whoâs family owns a nail salon, Ido not like to speak negatively on other individuals in the beauty industry & I rarely leave reviews but I stumbled across this salon on google once again while looking up the address to the hair salon I now go to & I decided to share my experienceâŠbecause it is not ok..I went to this salon over a year ago to color my hair copper, I had an appointment & when I got there they didnât have the color so the girl had to go buy it. I waited for like 40 minutes - 1 hour for her to come back but whatever I understood. Anyways, when I asked how much it would come out to be , I never really got a clear answer, more of a repeat of the same thing..âit depends on how much product we useâ & âdepends on how the color you have on (black) liftsâ. Sophie( the owner) and the girl who did my hair told me that I needed color correction and it would cost an additional $300 added onto the cost of actually coloring my hair which was already going to be like $300 & didnât even include a blowout. The blowouts/styling after your hair is colored ranges between $80-$200 (depending on who styled your hair). Which ok, no problem, I had told them I hadnât dyed my hair in the last 7 months and had hair growth. So basically the hair closest to my scalp was virgin. I went ahead with the color correction which lifted the black on the first round. They dyed my hair copper and in the end I ended up paying around $700-$800 (Included a hair serum of $50 something) for something that didnât even come out right. I couldnât tell while I was at the salon but when I went home my mom told me the back of my hair looked a complete darker shade than the rest of my hair. It wasnât noticeable if I was in a dark lit area but completely noticeable outside in the sun. I told sophie & they told me go back so it could be fixed that it was abnormal for that to happen. They also basically implied I had lied to them about not having colored my hair in the past 7 months by telling me that the color correction wouldâve worked if my hair at the top had actually been virgin..& that if they had to use more color, I would have to pay.SERIOUSLY!??? Make it make sense. If the color correction hadnât worked they wouldâve noticed it once my hair was styled. I canât see the back of my head but clearly they can & noticed that the shades were off but of course nothing was said because they probably thought I wouldnât noticeâŠHonestly, they act nice and the coffee they serve is good but the people here are not reliable. For the simple fact that thereâs a lack of honesty. & this is coming from someone whoâs a very understanding person. Nevertheless, please do not come here if you donât want to be overcharged. It is completely overpriced. It is not worth it. I value peopleâs work and the time they put into things, & that is why I do not complain about prices ever EVER but this was a very disappointing experience and result. If you are going to price high than at least be sure to give your client what they want or have the courtesy & respect to admit your mistakes instead of trying to pin it back on your clients. Even after it was âfixedâ the tones were uneven and still looked 2 different shades but frankly, I really tried to get past it & just move on but up to this day, after getting serviced by other licensed cosmetologists who have the same experience & are no where pricing as high, I needed to leave my experience on here because when I went, It was my first time going to a professional hair salon, I didnât know anything, & I hate when people take advantage of someone elseâs lack of knowledge. I do not care how many years of experience, or how many salons are owned by the owner etc. there is a lack of transparency & respect towards...
Read moreSophie is one of the most genuine people I've ever met. I have known Sophie for a long time but only recently I had the opportunity to sit in her chair and had an amazing experience with just a hair cut. I went back 4 months later to get my highlights done and had the pleasure of working with Elizabeth who is very talented. I had no idea it was going to take 4-5 hours, I didnt take into consideration how long and thick my hair is( down to the middle of my back). If you don't work in the industry or have never had a blonding or color service that is litteraly the complete opposite of what your current hair looks like then you you are going to be at the salon for a while. Elizabeth communicated the length of time I would be at the salon and I was kind of surprised because I didn't understand what all goes into the process. Time is money and long full thick hair requires a lot of time. I wanted a frosty icy blonde look and I had ashy light brown hair with old grown out highlights. My hair came out beautiful and I was there for 6 hours!
Keep in mind all of the prices for the services that are offered at Hair Secret are clearly posted on the salon website. If I hadn't done my research and asked questions I probably would have been a little taken back by what my service costed but my hair was completely transformed and It took 6 hours to get that look! My hair is healthy and beautiful because the Hair Secret team works the process and takes their time with each client.
If you have previously colored hair especially BOX COLORED hair and you want a red or blonde transformation be honest with your stylist and communicate that. And you have to ask questions about how much your service is going to cost and how long it will take. Stylists offer a service, they are doing a job just like a mechanic would by changing a tire or doing an oil change. You pay for parts and labor. A stylist uses products like hair color, developer, toner (especially if your are going blonde) shampoo and conditioner and then styling products to complete the service. Add the application of color, the washing, the conditioning, the brushing, the cutting, the drying then checking the cut when it's dry to ensure a prescion clean cut. Then the style, curls or flat ironing. All of these things are over looked when it's time to pay for a hair service. Getting quality hair care is an INVESTMENT. You want it for cheap you can expect cheap results and unhealthy damaged hair. These ladies survive and live on each and every client service. They take pride in their work and that shows with each their work.
At the end of the day when I take all of these things into consideration I will absolutely go back to Hair Secret and get a consultation for every service because I trust that they will take care of my hair and make sure it's healthy and strong while I reach my hair goals. These ladies are the best and work as a team!!! Thank you to Sophie and all the girls for always making me feel beautiful and happy when I leave your salon. See you ladies...
Read moreShe damaged my already damaged hair by being greedy. I got a gk treatment and went lighter to an auburn color that came out looking very orange brassy which wasnât too bad I just wanted her to remove the brassy color and a couple days later a tone down which completely took away the color I wanted and turned to a brown auburn color, which isnât what I wanted. I believe the tone also my hair couldnât handled it because it had only been like 3days after we did the lighter auburn and the go treatment. I wanted the go treatment because in the past it had helped my hair temporarily. Now little by little my hair is breaking off. I paid almost a thousand dollars, which she had already had planned to get out of me because on the phone when I asked her about prices she said âwell letâs say you want to spend a thousand on your hairâ. Iâm like no no way I can afford that. But still some how ended up getting me to spend $969. For my hair to come out, not the color I wanted, which she kept telling me oh it will faded into the color you want. Iâm like I donât want to have a faded color close to what I wanted in 3weeks! My hair is Extra fine and brittle and I notice it has just been getting less and less. She hounded me afterward trying to get me to spend money on another product for weight loss which was not what I wanted or asked about at all. I started going to her almost 10 years ago she was not money hounding back then. I felt like she really wanted to make her thousand dollars she planned on making by giving me another service of tone down when my hair couldnât handle it. I had to delete and block her just to stop her from badgering me about other products that I do not need. At first I had high hopes and never imagined feeling like this. But honestly Iâm pissed. I didnât have a lot of money at all and now my hair IS DEFINITELY NOT HOW I WANTED IT. I had been letting it grow out for like 1year and now itâs all breaking off again. It definitely doesnât feel like $969 dollars worth. Everyone I ask about tells me the same thing âomg Alexa no thatâs not rightâ. Proceed with caution if she can she will work you for every dime you have left. She also insulted me infront of one of her customers. I had a hickie on my neck and for some reason in her salon she felt she should bring up my hickie on my neck to a male customer ! Iâm like why are you talking about that! That was girl talk between us females because we were in the salon all day by ourselves. Iâm not sure why but she was completely condescending. humiliated me in front of her male customer by mentioning infront while he is in the chair getting worked on! I had to text her the next day and let her know that that was not okay to talk about my private business to a male customer! I could keep going. So sad super disappointed and out of $969. Which I had planned to have my hair exactly the way i wanted it for the holidays but now Iâm stuck...
