Our visit to The Hanger in Upland turned out to be an exhilarating rock climbing experience that left us with lasting memories and a newfound appreciation for the sport. From start to finish, every aspect of our visit was exceptional.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by a knowledgeable staff member who made us feel right at home. His enthusiasm for rock climbing was infectious, and he patiently guided us through the process, ensuring our safety and helping us make the most of our time at the gym.
Bringing along my nephew Aiden was a fantastic decision! His energy and excitement were matched by the vibrant atmosphere of The Hanger. Aiden had an absolute blast navigating the climbing walls, and it was a joy to see him conquer challenges and push his limits.
As for us, the rock climbing experience was nothing short of amazing. The variety of routes and obstacles provided a mix of challenges for climbers of all levels. While some of the obstacles seemed less daunting for experienced climbers, we quickly realized that even seemingly easier routes presented their own set of challenges, especially for beginners like us.
The sense of accomplishment and satisfaction that came with reaching the top of a challenging wall was indescribable. We found ourselves pushing our boundaries, both physically and mentally, in a supportive and encouraging environment that The Hanger provides.
In terms of value, every penny spent was more than justified by the quality of the experience. The thrill, the camaraderie, and the sense of achievement we gained during our time at The Hanger were truly priceless.
To sum it up, our rock climbing adventure at The Hanger in Upland was an exceptional outing that combined thrilling challenges, welcoming staff, and an atmosphere of pure excitement. Whether you're a seasoned climber or a novice looking for an unforgettable experience, The Hanger is an absolute must-visit destination. We can't wait to return for another round of...
Read moreI brought my 6 year old with me to try climbing at Hanger 18. It was our first time climbing and it was great. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in getting started with rock climbing or wanting to try something new. The front desk was extremely helpful and welcoming. They made it easy to fill out our waivers at the kiosks they have. We borrowed shoes and a harness from them, which made it quick and easy to get started. They offered a quick auto belay class (less than 10 minutes) to teach us how to climb, and then we were able to get started on our own. My daughter loved it, and so did I. She found it challenging since she's pretty short, but she climbed for about 2.5 hours without a break. We also tried bouldering (without ropes). The front desk was kind enough to show us how to climb and the safe way to fall. We started at the basic climbs and worked our way to slightly more challenging as the evening went on. After our first day here, we decided to buy a monthly membership for our daughter. The membership was at a reasonable price, and you can go to any of the Hanger 18 to climb. I think most of the time we'll go to the Upland location since they have the rope and harness option, and bouldering options, but we are also excited about trying the Rancho location. Thanks Hanger 18 for helping us get started. You may have a new climber for life. My daughter...
Read moreI’ve been a member at Hangar 18 and recently brought friends to try out the Upland gym for the first time around 5:30 PM. Despite my friends having prior climbing experience (not at Hangar 18), we were told they needed to take an “introductory class” before climbing—which we later found out is just a quick 5-minute overview of basic safety and falling technique.
What was frustrating is that they refused to offer this class until 8 PM, even though the gym wasn’t busy and multiple staff were available. The front desk employee, Matt Nogales, was particularly unhelpful and inflexible. He claimed he’d “lose his job” for conducting the intro before 8 PM, which seems unreasonable given the simplicity of the class and the clear availability of staff.
We ended up driving to the Hangar 18 in Rancho where the same intro was offered immediately without issue or pushback—exact same company, totally different experience.
Very disappointing visit at the Upland location. This kind of poor customer service—especially from staff like Matt—left a bad impression. If you're going to implement new policies, at least train your staff to apply them with common sense...
