I've grown up in this park, I've lived less than a block away from it my entire life, I'm 39 years old and I still to this day always enjoy getting a chance to visit The Marina. I love the fact that I'm able to take my kids there now and they have just as much fun as I ever did. "Daddy can we please go to The Marina playground" is a frequent question I hear haha. I can not speak for anyone else's experience there, but as far as I'm concerned I'm VERY happy to see that it seems like they still take pride in keeping it clean. I didn't see any trash, the grass wasn't high at all, baby trees had sticks to help them grow straight, the bathrooms weren't gross, the water from the sticker by the playground works nicely and the water from the fountains was clean (I'm sure other people have different opinions but I'm still alive after drinking it) I will always recommend this place to anyone who hasn't grown up in the area and doesn't know about this hidden little gem that sometimes most take for granted that we have access too. Until I see any decline in any of the things I've stated I will forever hold this place at a 5 star value and that is MY opinion after 39 years...
Read moreEvery time they get government grants for this park they use it foolishly the parking lot needs to be redone and the old buildings that need to be redone it was on the news and in the papers that they were going to start redoing the parking lots and redo the buildings but nothing has never happened at all their picnic tables are old and dilapidated they need more swings and they need more stuff for kids to do such as a basketball court a tennis court and also they should make their playground a little bit bigger then what it is every time they get money they're too worried about getting boulders and putting it on the side of the island you need to start cleaning up the place a little bit such as cutting down some of the old trees that are there removing the branches that fall and also getting rid of the wood that is in the parking lot I come down to this Marina quite a bit and every time I come down here I never see no improvements at all a couple new picnic tables here and there but to me you need to replace all the picnic tables and put...
Read moreThis was a lovely state park with water around most of it. Several walking paths, pavilions and a butterfly garden. They also keep a rowing associations boats and whatnot here. I watch self defenses being taught within the park as well, young and old attended including with pets. Trash cans were very limited especially along the outer path on the water. When I visit these type of places I always collect trash I find along the waterways and I have to say there was nowhere to place the trash without walking towards the center of the park a ways. Piers were available to store or get on your boats as well as a public loading spot for watercraft to get on to the river. It was a great place for a picnic as the squirrels did not bother...
