Well-maintained nature preserve in Wayne open to all, with lots of short trail choices. Several trails run along a creek or uphill to walk through forested areas. It is a carry in/carry out park which welcomes leashed dogs. Highlights are the Monkey Rocks, the Veterans memorial and crossing some wooden bridges over the creeks. The park is supported by community volunteers who welcome donations. There is free parking in the school lot by the park entrance, when school is out. Visit their website and print out or snap a photo of their color map. If not, no worries, since the trails are clearly marked and labelled. There are a few benches along the trails but no restrooms or...

A park that feels like an escape from the bustle of day to day stresses. McKaig is a trek into a forest with a dense canopy of leaves. Trails follow on either side of a gurgling brook which is fed at intervals by fresh springs. Summer visitors are rewarded by cool temperatures and a shady retreat from heat and humidity. Three paths are long enough to still restless souls - but short enough to work into a full day of other activities. Trail maps at the entrances show a variety of...

What a great gem! Over 85 acres and many trails which are easy to hike, shaded by the tres, and well marked. Trails are probably about 3.5 miles if you do all of them. Definitely family and dog friendly, and they request dogs are leashed.

Went on a Saturday and there was a helpful volunteer guide who gave great info on the trails, history and volunteer/community organization that supports the area. Trails are well marked and encourage social distancing with some paths...

McKaig is a treasure of a park. I go here every few days during lunch for a nice walk There are 10 or so well maintained trails. It feels like you are in the mountains, not 2 miles away from the largest mall in America. Only issues is that the landscape is muddy and has a lot of bugs, but that's unavoidable!
