The service was ok to start during lunch, and the food was pretty good. This was my 2nd or 3rd time coming to this restaurant after a long time and everything was fine previously. I had ordered the lunch special they had advertised out front for that day and then received the bill and they charged me for the full price “dinner portion”. I brought it up to the host stand since I couldn’t find the server, and she confirmed that it was still within the time of the lunch special and she spoke with the server and he proceeded to put words in my mouth and lie. He said that I “pointed to the menu” and said I wanted the dinner portion when ordering. Never once did I “point to the menu” or say “dinner portion”. He was very rude about the situation, and I asked why I would want the dinner portion when I am clearly here during lunch time and wanted to try to the special that was advertised. Maybe I should be clear next time (there will be no next time) and say “lunch special”, but if the server was doing his job correctly then he would’ve known what the special was that day and maybe confirmed whether I wanted the lunch or dinner portion, but he did not, he just assumed. He then said he would get the manager. So the manager comes to the table, already with an attitude rather than being understanding, and proceeds to tell me that the server said I wanted the “dinner portion” and “don’t you know that the dinner portion is bigger than the lunch” and I said no I didn’t know that, I’ve never been here for lunch before. So I proceeded to show him my half eaten burrito in the Togo box and if he wanted he could take the burrito and charge the special price instead of full “dinner” price. Then he said “yes I AM going to do that” and then took my half eaten burrito from me. How wild is that? Bizarre. Maybe he wanted it for himself, I’m not sure, otherwise that is extremely wasteful. The staff was very unprofessional and extremely accusatory never taking any accountability. Never again. If the manager would’ve respectfully listened to what I had to say and was not being accusatory then the situation could’ve been completely different. Worst management I’ve come across yet. Good luck if you ever bring up a small...
Read moreHearing a lot of good things about Plaza Azteca, I finally gave this place a try. When I first sat down at the bar, it took some time for a bartender to serve me. I ordered the Corona-Rita which tasted great, but I was confused because the Corona is supposed to be placed upside down into the margarita, but it wasn’t which made it very difficult to put the Corona in. Not a huge deal, but I would have liked to receive what I ordered. The bartenders were very sweet and had warm personalities, which is why they are receiving three stars.
We had to ask about their happy hour since they do not have a happy hour menu and the only display of the happy hour hangs low behind stools next to the bar so it’s hard to see if people are sitting there. Their happy hour is from 4-6 for the Azteca margarita only I believe. There is some type of special that goes on all day for margaritas, but I couldn’t read the sign too well.
Now onto the food. I am a lover of cheese, so I was excited to order the Sonora, which is a quesadilla stuffed with cheese, a cheese enchilada, and a burrito covered in cheese. The word cheese was just said a lot and let me tell you… the plate was COVERED in cheese. Pounds of cheese. I was very scared to eat it because I’d never seen so much cheese on a plate in my life. I LOVE to eat and so the fact my food got cold and I couldn’t finish it says a lot about how I felt. I would never recommend this food dish to anyone because your stomach will never forgive you.
With all of this said, I would probably come back for the drinks and to maybe try one of their other dishes that doesn’t involve cheese. I do love the fact that they have some vegetarian and...
Read moreI’ve never been so disappointed here. My family has been coming here for yearsss, all during the pandemic supporting them too…the last time we ate here there was a manual gratuity of 20% and we didn’t think anything of it being a party of 5 we thought it was a mistake but the server was good so we didn’t complain. However tonight it happened again for a party of 4. This is NOT DISCLOSED anywhere on the menu nor was it posted anywhere to notify costumers. Not only that but once you pay that bill it prints for an additional tip so for those that don’t check your bill closely is probably double tipping. I’m disappointed for multiple reasons now with this. 1. It’s unlawful in the state of PA to do this unless it’s a party of 6 or more. 2. We tend to tip 20% regardless, however tonight the waiter was disappointing, I had to get up from my table to request items. 3. Our whole meal wasn’t even delivered, if you ask for additional salsa or a side of guacamole with your order it should come- this is when I had to get up because the waiter didn’t even come over to check in on us or make sure everything was delivered. when I walked over he was glued to his phone. 3. The waiter continued to bring chips and salsa to the table while we waited for dinner which isn’t a complaint however when we wanted salsa with our meal It was now an additional charge. I didn’t keep track of the salsas on the table or else I would’ve been more alert. I feel that it is time to bring my business to other Mexican restaurants in the area rather than this chain whose service...
