Lions Park — Attraction in Valparaiso

TL:DR: Boat ramp, not for fishing, there’s no playground, picnics here are great, get here early.

Google is misleading there is no playground here for children and I don’t recommend fishing as this has a boat ramp. The dock is NOT for fishing. When I see people fishing when it’s crowded with boats and families trying to dock it’s kind of rude because it’s truly not an area for you set up a chair and all your stuff. The last thing many confused boaters trying to get these boats on or off a trailer need is some clueless person literally in the way.

The park is good for family picnics. There’s benches and shaded areas. No grills. I don’t recommend swimming here as I mentioned before this is a boat ramp.

Visiting from out of town and attended the 4th of July Fireworks. AMAZING!!! Shot from the bay using multiple boats and synced to music. It's hands down my favorite show. I hope we will be able to experience this again.

Come early in the day and set up your chairs. They'll be there when you return. Come back no later than 6:30 pm for parking.

When they say food trucks on site - take note that it's only shaved ice, Dippin' Dots, and ice cream. That's the only thumbs down...

It's a great place for me to clear my mind when me and the wife are arguing. I love to go up there and play the song that everyone loves. " Sitting on the dock watching the ship roll in" . It don't fix the problem but it sure does relax ya so you don't go back home and say something you might regret latter. Well time to head back home and try to fix another argument lol .
